I voted for michelle. I looked at the links BEFORE I read our post all the way though so i didnt even know when i voted she was the most expensve! 🙂 I like her work and it reminds me of the photographer we picked. If you find someone you like book soon. Our wedding isnt until Oct 2014 but we were running into photographers that were already booked up or only had a spot or two available.

    Ok,

I would start off by eliminating Photography by Danielle. Her photos do not look professional at all. I don’t like the lighting or editing done by her.

Next, powerstation events. I would be wary about going with a company like that.

Michelle Girard would be my pick for sure. I wouldn’t hire any of the others.

Avondo can be easily eliminated as well. Very unprofessional looking pictures.

Same can be said with Steph Wohlers.

@Omgbunnies:  I’ve heard from many people that sometimes you have to watch out because they will tell you that you are booked with the photographer you like and then in the last second they’ll switch you to a lower level photographer. But, if they have good reviews, it’s your discretion. I still think Michelle is way better than all of the others.

@Omgbunnies:  This is a GREAT price if you love her work.  Professional photography coverage begins at $2500 and for your area especially that is a great find.  I wouldn’t be surprised if she does raise her prices for 2015… photogs have to deal with inflation too and she probably wants to make sure she is charging what she is worth.

I haven’t looked at the links yet (I’ll do that though!) but based on the other posts in this thread I’m guessing I’m going to agree.  If she is producing high quality work you love, she is a great deal even if she raises that price a little bit.

@Omgbunnies:  Ok, now for the comments on the links.

I’ll skip Powers for right now… I agree with lauraashley to be wary about this.

First of all, omfg not Avondo.  I mean seriously.  This is one of the worst photogs I think I’ve seen anyone consider.  Don’t look at anyone that doesn’t have a real website and is relying only on a FB page.

Danielle still has improving to do before she will reach pro level quality.  Blurry reception photos.

Steph is pretty bad… no real style, inconsistent editing.

Michelle is so far above these others it’s not even funny.  She is not perfect but she is much better, and even $2500 is low for to find the best.  I think she is probably worth what she is charging, and if you like her style and the feel of her photos, I would go with her!

The other three are immediate no ways’s.

I didn’t look at all the powerstation pictures, but did look at Heather’s and I thought they were alright.  Michelle had some really nice pictures too, and I think overall I preferred her.  The first one and the last 2 I would not even consider.

On the one hand, $2500 is a lot of money when you consider you’re spending money on SO many other things for this one day too!  On the other hand, at the end of your wedding day you’re left with your husband (yay!), your rings, and your pictures to serve as memories of the good time everyone had (and of all the other things you spent money on to make the day pretty).  Personally, my photography was one of the most important things, and I was willing to splurge a little bit, because I know that years from now when I look back I’ll care more that I have beautiful pictures than I will about whether we had chair covers in our reception venue (or whatever).  Plus, you will likely never look more gorgeous than you will on your wedding day – you’ve gotta document that!! 🙂

@Omgbunnies:  Haha NP… glad to help!

@ferdie224:  Totally agree with all this!  I always say that your photographer is your most important vendor… for many reasons, but especially because everything else (dress, flowers, hair, venue, etc) will ultimately only look as good as the work of the photographer that took your photos!  A good photog can make a budget wedding look like a million bucks.  A bad photog can make a million dollar wedding look like garbage.

Danielle- Hell no. Those photos are awful.

Powerhouse- no. Don’t go with a company. They’re very hit and miss.

Michelle- Definitely the best of the bunch. She has some nice shots.

Avondo- no. Doesn’t come across as a professional to me. Images are average at best.

Stephanie- NO! Some of the worst post-processing I’ve ever seen. Almost as bad as Danielle.

In conclusion- Michelle is the only one of those worth hiring. Stay far away from the others.
