I don’t think you’re being unreasonable since Baker A is still within your budget. I wouldn’t be comfortable going w/ a sloppily decorated cake even if it was that much cheaper.

I’m glad you chose to go with baker A. It seems like you have already done some compromising, and if you are still within budget, you should get what you feel confident in and looks beautiful to you. 

I had a similar experience with picking my venue. I could have gotten a venue for about $700 cheaper (5k total wedding budget) but the lesser venue was pretty terrible, and the expensive venue absolutely made my heart sing. I chose to go the more expensive route. Sometimes you just shouldn’t have to compromise, or you’ll end up regretting it.

generally I agree with FH and I don’t see the point in spending money on cake BUT if you guys are going to spend the money and you can afford it – Go for the good cake!  Baker A all the way.  Remember, it has to look good in photos too, people like to get up close and personal with the cake!
