I loooove #1 and #4 but I think the fabric on #4 looks more wintery, not for an August wedding. So I vote #1! You have great taste 🙂

bambiiandthefox :   I didn’t vote – I like #2 and #4 the best, all the styles are nice but I’m not sure about bright cherry red as a guest.  I tend to be a bit old fashioned though, so please take that into account.  LOL

Honestly I like none of them.  #2 is not a summer wedding dress, and the others show to much. Black tie is supposed to be classy, not screaming red with lots of skin showing.

Also wouldn’t wearing anything so attention drawing as a bright red dress and wouldn’t show that much skin.

I voted 4 (the color is gorgeous) but agree with everyone else – it’s just too much skin for the most part.  Reason I didn’t pick 1 was I think it’d be uncomfortable all night with the sleeves halfway down your arm like that, but maybe in reality it isn’t so constrictive.  Any chance you’d take a more neutral color option?  That bright red sure is bright.  For me it wasn’t so much the color as the quantity of it, though.  Fine in a shorter dress but just sooooo much red in a gown, if that makes sense.

ETA: saw your update. I think red is supposedly taboo because it’s so eye catching, it draws away attention. It’s also taboo in some cultures b/c the birde wears red.  If your friend is sensible that won’t really be a problem.  If skin doesn’t matter, then go with the last one, which is a classier shade, as it were.

You would likely get a lot more responses if you posted pics. Many Bees aren’t going to take the time to open 4 links.

bambiiandthefox :  The following are great options; they have the sexy vibe you seem to favor, but are more interesting design-wise with a bit of a couture feel:

Any dress except #2. It screams bridesmaid to me and also not a nice color or look for summer.

     I liked #1 and #3 – I love that red colour!

My MIL didn’t wear deep red to our wedding because she was told at work you don’t wear red?!

I’m a bit over all these rules about what colour you can and can’t wear at a wedding…. Will that colour make you stand out? Sure! So what? It’s beautiful colour. Everyone will still be looking at the bride.
