I have to vote for sixlets because they are the most amazing candy EVER! Where can I get them in bulk? My colors are red and gold and hello! they have red and "gold" so i could add them to my day of fun.
The responses to this question have really given me some great ideas, but this is about you, so here goes it.
I love the idea of the cards – if that is you. I’m cookies so I’m making cookies for our guests. People know that I bake and it fits. I also like the idea of making CDs and maybe putting your picture on the front and the play list inside – they have super cute printable labels you can get to stick on the CD. I love getting music and free music is even better!! I say make up a some CDs and place them around – couples only need one CD and then do the cards.
Maybe you can tie the cards up in something that says fall? Or, could you print out the rules for your favorite card game and put that on the tag or wrapped up with the cards?
You will have to let us know what you decide!

I would go for the Deck of cards. I come from a famiy who loves to participate in family games like dominoes, parchese, and CARD GAMES. We have cards from back in the days american airlines/united airlines used to give them out! (remember those???). Cards tend to stand the test of time… and bring people together like weddings do. But that might just be my family. ;o)

I know you’re pretty far along in this, and I just wanted to share something I’m doing. It’s my second wedding and Rick & I wanted the favor to be meaningful (and budget-friendly). So we’re making a donation to the American Heart Assn through justgive.org — it’s meaningful for us in two ways, sharing how we’re starting our lives together by giving back, and, at the same time, connecting it to the love we share. We chose the Heart Assn since it’s not only symbolic but a gift made in memory of my Dad, who died of heart disease.

I forgot to mention too, it’s very easy to do – we receive a ready-to-print file for the favor that we can print on any type of paper we want. So we’ll make it into a scroll or card that will be by each guest’s plate. All I have to do is get what justgive provides printed.

Hey girls – Thanks for all the suggestions!
I came up with the sixlets idea after reading one of Miss. Stiletto’s post. That would probably be the best place to look to see where to buy them in bulk.
I think what I’ll end up doing is making both the hot chocolate and the cards. I’ll either do the hot chocolate for every person, and then put a few decks of cards on each table or people to use and/or take home. Or I’ll alternate hot chocolate and cards at every other place, kind of like hot chocolate for the women, cards for the men.
Since I am going to do at least some cards, anyone have ideas on how to cover them? I want to just buy regular cards, not the personalized kind because they can get kinda expensive. But I’m not sure how to cover the regular packaging to make it look nice. Any ideas?

Well maybe you could tie a ribbon in your color around the cards and maybe embelish with a leaf or another kind of ribbon

As a guest I’d love the deck of cards most (although I do love all of your ideas) just because Fiance and I play A LOT of cards and we can always use a new deck. Plus it suits your style and like you said, people can play during the reception! 🙂

For me hands down I would go with the deck of cards. Especially since both families love cards and plus your Fiance picked out the idea.

I really liked the hot cocoa favor but this was before I read your families love to play cards! Are majority of your guests family? What about the rest of the guests? Do you know they’re avid card players too? Of course I’m only suggesting hot cocoa cause I would love it as a favor if I were a guest! Especially if it’s a cold October! 🙂

I vote for the soy candles! I light candles every night pretty much and love the fact soy candles are organic and burn clean. If I were visiting for your wedding oot, I’d love to go back to my hotel room, light the candle and relax as I got ready for bed.
Plus every time they light the candle, the sweet smell will give them fond sweet memories! No messy candy melting. Plus I’m somewhat of a cocoa snob..I love a certain type and won’t have anything else! (neither will my son).

I like edible favors!!! I think that they really will be used by someone.

I just had a funny idea. I don’t know if it’d be too much work but if you could find a way to put your face on the Queen of Hearts and your Fiance on the King of Hearts that’d be a super cute surprise. Or you could just do it for card playing family members.
As for packaging of your cards. If you want the whole card box covered I’d use (I’m blanking on the name of it) the brown craft paper stuff that comes in the giant rolls. Think art class from like elementary school. I also think if I remember right the local newspaper would give to away extra paper they had left over on the roll that they couldn’t use. I’m not sure if they still do that, it’s probably not free either. Then you could tie a ribbon around it, or use the breast cancer awarness bracelet to finish it off.

I think cards are by far the most useful and fun. We got hot coco from a wedding once, and it just ended up in the trash. Second choice would be sixlets. The other three just don’t appeal to me at all.
