    Hmmm, that is a tough one. My first instinct is to say guitarist, but then I feel like a violinst is much more unique. I would say if you are going for something more casual–go with the guitarist. If you want something more classic–go with the violinist. Good luck!!

    An acoustic guitar gives me goosebumps.  If you want more responses, maybe add a poll to your post?  It seems a lot of us bees gravitate towards them. πŸ™‚

    I voted violin, because I think it is classy and beautiful.  Also, I think violin is a better background tone.

    I had a similar dilemna.  I had to choose between a pianist and a guitarist.  We decided to go with the pianst because it is unique, fun and we both found it more appealing as background music (we went to a few different restaurants with live music to gauge which we enjoyed more during a meal/talking).

    @TiffanyMM:  I can’t honestly say that I’ve had a lot of exposure to a solo violin for an extended period of time (e.g. a long playlist).  I think you should let that guide you in your decision.  Are you going to be happy with violin for the duration of time you need a musician?
