- Wedding: June 2014
I’m kind of clueless when it comes to photography. I always look at pictures and think “Ohhh pretty,” but never really notice whether they are good or overly photoshopped or could have been better by a better photog. I always see you bees looking at people’s pictures and being able to tell whether or not the photographer was good. So, please help me pick a good one!
What I’m looking for: Someone who can capture moments AND someone who can give me some of those really fun looking photoshoots with the bride and groom (I want them to be artistic and be able to come up with the poses). I used this site: http://www.herecomestheguide.com/wedding-party-ideas/detail/photography-style-glossary/ and it looks like I want something that is either Illustrative Photography or the High Fashion wedding photography.
Here are my options so far (and I’m open to suggestions!):

Meet the Burks
Price: Cost of Vacation for 8 hours of coverage of 2 photogs, Engagement Session back home, TTD shoot, edited images w/ printing rights
Vacation would cost about $300/night for 3 nights plus flights out of Charlotte (they happen to be in my area so they would give us the engagement session before hand for free so we can actually meet with and work with them in advance) – Estimate it would cost about $2300 for 3 nights? would look to add a 4th night for them ($2600). Depends on how much flights are (right now, they’re showing at $680).
Price: $3400 for Nova Package + $550 for TTD ($300 each additional hour)
Nova Package Includes; 6hrs coverage, 2 photographers, online proofing gallery, unlimited download gallery, archival disc with images
She is clearly the most expensive and pretty much outside our budget (I wanted to stick closer to $2500), but I was told she will work with you with pricing. Her cheaper package is $2900 for 4 hours and I just don’t think that will be enough coverage.
I’m also open to any suggestions you may have. A lot of photographers from the states will do the wedding for free if I just pay for their vacation. If I go that route, I’d like someone close to Charlotte so I could at least meet with them or NYC (where I’m originally from).
Also, as a side note, we weren’t planning on having a videographer. We were going to do the wedit.com thing (they send you digi cams for $500 and all your guests can videotape the whole thing), but for $400 I can get the professionals to do it. Or, I might just skip this entirely.
