Ok, so our wedding theme is astrophysics/astronomy. Yes, really. We’re both huge physics nerds, there’s a wonderful Natural History Museum nearby as well as Space Center Houston that we’re thinking about using as a venue (or just having getting at night, outdoors, under the actual stars themselves). I’ve got two color palettes I’m looking at using, but I can’t decide and FH is color deficient, so they all look pretty much the same to him.
Also, I love basically all purples/blues/greens and maroon, so my preferences aren’t a problem. Both moms love navy, plum, purple, blues, and maroon (and look good in them) and we haven’t decided if we’ll have a wedding party yet (leaning towards yes so we can have a cushion between us and family drama that seems inevitable with my family).
So . . . what do you think would be best for our wedding, considering what I’ve said above?
Theme 1: based on a nebula mostly
Theme 2: based on a galaxy photo

I don’t think your theme is nerdy at all. I think you should definitely use a dark blue and a metallic color, either silver or gold but not both. Not really sure what other colors. I will try to post some things I saw online that were really pretty.

Either one of those venues would be AMAZING!!! My absolute favorite date with FH (amd history of dates ever!) was at that museum. How’s that from a fellow nerd? 🙂 I think either theme would be great! You can reallly go in any direction with either of them! Love the idea!
The second one would be my choice.

@zumbaista: Palette 2 contains the colors I immediately thought about when you said starry color scheme.

I prefer the blues and purples in the second one, but LOVE the maroon from the first. I’d probably try and sneak that in somewhere if it was me. Gorgeous idea!

I loved space center Houston as a kid!! Are you from htown? What part?

I think what’s missing in the nebula color swatches is it’s missing the most important color- that pop of yellow right in the middle! I think you could do a lot with the oranges and yellows along with the deep blues and purples. Love the theme by the way!

@zumbaista: I LOVE the 2nd palette you posted, so that has my vote with some silver accents. 🙂

@zumbaista: i personally think there are too many colors in the nebula-based scheme.
i would recommend making your main color a navy or a deep purple, and then having the accent colors in champagne and silver, or nude and grey. something along those lines. if you want more color, your secondary colors could be a deep pink/muted fuschia and silver.

I agree with palette 2 with silver accents

I love them both, but #2 is lovely. Add in some metallic accents!

GORGEOUS, what great inspiration!! If you’re not worried about getting too literal, I immediately thought of these for bridesmaids dresses: http://www.etsy.com/shop/Shadowplaynyc?section_id=11257967

Wait until you pick a venue to decide. Your venue might have a dominant color already that will guide your decision making.

I’m surprised there isn’t more love for the nebulae color scheme! I love nebulae, they remind me of eyes… Lol random! But I think the dark blues, purples, and blacks with pops of brighter colors would be lovely.
