- Wedding: August 2014
So my Fiance and I have finally settled on a reception venue (yaaaaaaay!) but now need to pick a date. The only Saturday they had available next summer was July 12. There’s nothing wrong with that date, but I had been hoping to have the wedding in late August because the weather tends to be better, and it would be a nicer time to go on our honeymoon. July we’re more likely to either have rain or roasting heat in Nova Scotia.
BUT they also had Sunday, August 31st available, which is the Sunday of Labour Day weekend. Labour day usually is lovely weather in NS, and it could be somewhat easier for out of town people since if they didn’t want to take any vacation time they could also go up Saturday and back Monday. But there are the usual long weekend issues of hotels and flights tending to be more booked up, as well as most wedding vendors being more busy. I’m also getting some push back from my family about the idea of having a Sunday long weekend wedding. Not just because a Sunday date is non-traditional, but also because people tend to have plans for the long weekend and the logistical issues.
So what do you think bees, should I go for the late August date I’d wanted or stick with July so I don’t have to worry about the long weekend?
