Pinot Noirs are red and supposedly be smooth and fruity.

For whites – a white zinfandel is fruity.  My favorite is moscato though – sweet and fruity.  My fave is Sutter Home’s version (only because I can’t find the brand that Olive Garden serves).  If you get the white zinfandel, I’d suggest Arbor Mist’s which comes in flavors (like Strawberry).

Are you specifically looking for a red wine? Because there are some very sweet German rieslings that basically taste like juice, lol, and don’t have any sort of alcohol taste at all. White Zinfandels also tend to be pretty mild tasting I think.

Arbor Mist is a really fruity juice-like wine.  It only has 6 percent alcohol.  I will say that if your Fiance is a wine lover, he probably will not like Arbor Mist.  I love wine and I wouldn’t go near Arbor Mist (no offense to anyone that drinks it)

White Zinfandel might also work, but I believe it has about as much alcohol as other wines.

Good suggestions so far. I would also suggest a sweet champagne. They are slightly harder to find, though. I recommend looking for a wine shop in your area (you do live in Oregon, afterall). The prices are usually competitive with grocery stores, and you will be able to ask an actual expert.

Not too sure if it’s available over there but Gossips Dolcetto and Syrah is a very fruity tasting red, and it’s very affordable.

I am all for the White Zinfandel!  It is my favourite!  Gallo brand is good, as is Sutter Home’s.  To me, Arbor Mist is not really a wine – it definitely tastes more like juice – but that may be exactly what you are looking for!  There is also Boone’s – it is a wine cooler and again tastes like juice.  It is super cheap (like $5 a bottle), but the alcohol content in it is low – around 4%.

I ditto the riesling sentiment.  I really like Hogue late harvest riesling (sweet and delicious!).

Also, there are pre-mixed sangria that are fruity and yummy, but not sure your fi will like it

Ditto on all the above Reisling recommendations.  I am not a big wine person, but I love Riesling.

My favorite, so far, is Chauteau St. Michelle.

Red wines generally won’t taste sweet to someone who isn’t a wine drinker.  I also suggest reisling, (white).  You can always do prosecco (sparking white) and add some fruit juice to it.  It looks just like champage but is sweeter.

can you get sweet cheecks or hinman reisling? I went wine tasting for the first time this weekend so now I’m a total wine snob (jk) but those were good!

Have you tried Moscato? It’s a dessert wine and very sweet and delicious (FH and I both hate wine but both love this!). We specifically buy Barefoot, its not costly at all but its awesome! All their wines are rated “Best Buy” for numerous years…OH By The Way Safeway has 30% off of wines, 40% if you buy 6 or more bottles of the same kind! In Oregon, not sure about elsewhere for anyone else reading this…

Anyways, so a bottle of Barefoot Moscato is right around $5 at that sale.

@tiffinapit – I’m with you on Moscato – it’s DELICIOUS.  It’s my favorite wine because it’s so sweet and doesn’t taste super alcoholicy (to me).  Olive Garden introduced it to us and I’ve tried every brand I can get my hands on.  Barefoot is good, but I think the Sutter Homes is sweeter.  Plus I hate the “corks” that Barefoot uses.  😛
