I am going to try to keep a long and complicated story as short as possible. Back in may of 2011 my Fiance proposed to me in Paris with a beautiful heirloom ring. It belonged to his grandmother on his fathers side. It was an emerald with 2 diamonds on either side. Or so we thought….. Fast forward to november of 2012, I was cleaning my ring and to my surprise the center stone popped out! I was shocked but I figured no big deal, I will just take it to the jeweler and get it fixed. Well when we took it to the family jeweler in December we found out it was FAKE! The whole ring, it wasn’t even real gold. Needless to say, I was upset but my fiancée’s family was even more upset because they had no idea the ring was fake.
So now I am looking for a new engagement ring and I don’t really know what I want! I like my old ring because in addition to it being a family heirloom it also had my birthstone (emerald) and my fiancee’s birthstone (diamond). However, I was also thinking about a more traditional diamond ring. I don’t want to regret my ring decision in a few years. My fiancée says I should just get whatever I want but that isn’t very helpful haha.
I am also kind of concerned about the softness of an emerald. I don’t want to damage my ring! I’m kind of a clumsy haha.
I don’t like solitaires, square shapes, ovals or platinum (for myself)
Here are some rings I’m thinking about:
What do you bees think?

I think ring 5, or something like what your fiance proposed with. Ring 1 and 4 are very similar! And they are all very similar! hahah I feel like a guy here! However I think the green stone is most unique and I actually like it best!

They are all beautiful, which makes picking one of them really difficult! You definitely have a theme, so go with it. If it were me and it actually looks the way the picture does, I would pick the 1st one.
I love emeralds, I have 2 (one was my Mom’s) and the other is -supposedly- an emerald, so you know I love them. Having said that, as an engagement ring? Nope. Too soft. I would be terrified I would damage it. I (sometimes) remove my ring to clean, but not always. I never take them off to sleep – well you get the idea. So a diamond was the only option for me because I wanted to wear it all the time.
The 2nd one is a very close contender. (oh boy – I am not being that helpful)
The 3rd one is just not my style, although I see the beauty in it
The 4th one? See answer to the 3rd one – although I like it better than the 3rd one. My problem with this one are the diamonds on the side. It would rub against another ring, which would bother me. I would worry about the integrity of the stones, long-term
The 5th one, sans emerald is very pretty. I would want to try that one on before making a comment one way or the other.
Clear as mud aren’t I? lol – but what fun you’ll have!

The green and gold ring is my top choice by far. Not only do I love contrast when using halo designs (in metal and/or center stone, and this one has BOTH! 🙂 ), but gold and green are an absolutely gorgeous color combo.

I love number 5. The other ones are really pretty but I find the 5th one just has something really special.

I love the last one but I would prefer it in white gold.
Second choice would be the second one.
