So my cousin is going to be my flower girl. My dilema is do I put her in a dress similar to the bridesmaids(like a junior bridesmaid dress)? or a white dress with tulle, lace and with similar accents to mine? I was her parents flower girl, with a very similar dress as her mom. I would love for her to be similar to me, but her being 9 almost 10, I dont know if it is age appropriate to have her wear a “typical” flower girl dress. She is tiny fo 9, she can fit in both options.
The dresses I was considering.
The Jr Bridesmaid Dress (will be same color as bridesmaid dress)
Actual bridesmaid dress
(She is going to be walking down the aisle with a tall 8 year old ring bearer).

i LOVE the first option and at tea length, I think it is very age appropriate. It doesn’t look “too young” as a kid’s bridal dress but I def think she’s too young for the bridesmaid-type dress.

@SparkleBee11: i think the second dress looks slightly too old and the first one with the illusion neckline is age appropriate and really cute !!

Flower girl dress should have nothing to do with yours, so… whatever feels right to her mom!

Omggggg, the first dress! PERFECTION.

I think the Flower Girl dress is SO CUTE!
But it depends on her personality. My sister (who is 12 now, but when she was 10) would raise one eyebrow at the first dress and go “So, I’m 5 now?” (She’s mouthy… And fashion-concious.)
But me as a 10 year old would have been ALL ABOUT the first dress! (I would still wear it, to be perfectly fair…)
So it depends on your FG’s personality!

I don’t think the flower girl dress should have anything to do with the bride’s gown…but having said that, the second dress looks a bit too adult for her. I would maybe add a little bolero or something?

@mixtaperomance: Thank you! I was very unsure of when “junior bridesmaid” comes into play. the bridal shop where I ordered the bridesmaids dresses suggested it as an option and said 9-10 was the “perfect age” for it.
@mckey430: Thank you. I think so too.
@HannahGrace: Her mom is on board for whatever I pick. Her mom and I had similar dresses, when I was her Flower Girl. So I thought it would be sweet if I carried out that tradition we my cousin and I.
@BrandNewBride: Exactly me at 10 would love dress #1 but my Flower Girl is more tom boyish. Shes girly but also likes to be a “big girl” Yet she says she likes both
@peonyinparis: I only wanted it similar to mine, because when I was her mom’s Flower Girl, I had a dress similar to her.

I don’t know what to suggest you…but I am a little OCD about every aspect of my life…and it took me a long time to decide what my flower girl will wear…I knew from the start that her dress should either match my bridesmaids dresses but be ivory like my dress…or it should exactly match my dress (material, style, color etc)…Finally I decided to go with the second option…and my flower girl will look like a little bride; wearing a tiny copy of my dress…
So, if I were you I would’ve bought a lace dress for the flower girl..so she will match you 🙂

@SparkleBee11: I like the first one! I think the pink one looks too adult for a 9/10 year old. Particularly if they’re small for their age.

@SparkleBee11: The first dress- it will be perfect!

@SashaUSARu: lol Im OCD about her dress! I like having everything coordinated. I think it looks obvious when a Flower Girl or Ring Bearer were thought of last minute.
@allyfally: Thank you!

The First dress has my vote. If you’re unsure due to her age you could do that (1st one) in same color as bridesmaid.
