msmcclelland : I actually prefer the 2nd one, but the 1st one would be my second choice.
I can’t believe people are so fucking uptight. Asking their guests to wear black or white isn’t asking a ton, they are colors most people have and by giving a dress code, such as black tie or cocktail you’re already dictating what people wear. Sure, maybe they have more options that way but come on, black or white? She’s not asking them to wear neon yellow!
OP have your vow renewal, if your friends are uptight and get worked up over being asked to wear a certain color they can decline and miss out on the fun.

I like dress #1. I like the color both in the top image and the image
zias posted. Unless you are a celebrity, there are so few opportunities to really embrace the glitz and glam, so I think you should go for it.

claroquesi : Girl I know good and well you have heard of themed parties….. what’s the point of having a theme if the guests just wear whatever the heck they want?
I don’t understand why people have to pick apart and make negative everything.

Lawd these comments! it’s a vow renewal so i’m pretty sure OP knows her guests very well at this point and knows they would not care about color dress code. Also, black and white is something people always have in their closet and it actually makes things easier for guests. OP I voted for the first dress as it just looks so classy and beautiful and I think it fits your theme wonderfully!. Congrats on making far enough to have a vow renewal.

OK so it seems like some of yall are very salty about this post and I’m not 100% sure why. All I was asking for was an opinion on a dress design. No I am not going to get that EXACT dress I’m having it custom made to fit my FABULOUSLY CURVY NATURAL body but I did have some issues deciding which of the 3 gowns I would go with as a STARTING POINT. Again I AM NOT HAVING A FULL BLOWN WEDDING it’s a vow renewal with no bridal party, flower girl, or ushers just myself, my husband and our kids. I asked everyone to wear black just as you would for an all-black themed party/event and I don’t see an issue with it. I would like just my family to wear gold to match our theme and colors. I’m confused as to why my ask for help has brought all these negative comments to come spewing out from a group of ladies that are supposed to be helpful to me. To everyone else that has given kind words and opinions without being hateful I APPRECIATE YOU!

msmcclelland : Dress one is awesome. I love all the sparkle, and think that one shoulder detail is gorgeous.
Would you keep the drape detail in the back? Cause that is FABULOUS.
The 2nd dress is lovely, but I think the geometric lines might make photographing the dress a bit more tricky; if it’s the slightest bit twisted, or your posture isn’t absolutely erect, it really highlights that fact. Even on the model, it’s a bit bunched up around her waist and it draws the eye.
Personally, I don’t think the ruching on the 3rd dress is very flattering. I also don’t care for the off the shoulder arm strap as much. It’ll also be a bit harder to move your arm freely in that gown.
I think the style of the first dress is more elegant, and that draping fabric manages to HINT at a train and veil without you having to actually wear them. I think it gestures towards being more bridal – perfect for a vow renewal – where the 3rd is more of a red carpet look.

I actually love the second dress but I voted for the first dress as a better fit for a vow renewal. The theme sounds like fun! I would love to see a photo of the dress when it’s completed!

I like the 2nd dress, because it looks to be a bit more delicate and flowy.
