98% of people are in favor of dress #2 – the poll speaks for itself 🙂

Option #2 is by far the most flattering!

@Dani1965:  I like dress #2 the best as well! Its nice and bridal and formal and beaded and definitely gives you a beautiful shape! I hope that’s the one!

    Dress 2 by a mile!

I do want to add a caveat though. I am a similar size and shape to you, and I’m also an older bride (I will be 38). I would not wear any of those styles, including dress 2. For me, I would feel like I’m playing at dress-ups, wearing those kind of dresses at my age. And I am 10 years younger than you.

I am not by any means saying that you can’t wear an obvious bridal dress at the age of 47. If you’ve ever watched Say Yes to the Dress or Four Weddings you will have seen plenty of older brides wear really out there, show-stopping bridal dresses and completely rock them. But they were all brides who had major diva attitude. I don’t know you at all, so I don’t know if that is you.

If you have the attitude, go ahead and flaunt dress 2. But if you haven any doubts, pick something a bit less bridal and more classic looking, and maybe stay away from tulle and strapless (or wear a bolero or shrug).

You could also think about getting something in a colour (probably what I’ll be doing). This place has been recommended by a few people, and caters for any size and any colour:

You know what suits you now so I think you could buy an online dress with confidence. Basically you need something with corset boning to define your waist, and a skirt that flares out at the natural waist or just below it.

I still wouldn’t rule out A-line dresses for you either – even though there is one in the photos above (#1). It’s not the A-line that’s the problem there, but the fact that the dress is so low backed that it can’t possibly provide the kind of support and definition a corset/fully boned dress can.
