i personally like the 1st choice.  i think it’s a very pretty color, but it’s unique too.  either one would work though, but i prefer the lighter.

I liked the brown pearl, because it looks a touch lighter than the coffee brown (and you have dark cabinets).  Also the brown pearl pattern coordinates better with the tile pattern.

    ETA:  Love the paint color!

I prefer the Brown Pearl.  The “pattern” of the second one is too big for my liking.

I actually prefer the 2nd option!

The yellow/gold tones in the tile and the paint color, as long as not a really small kitchen, should break up the darkness of the second option. I like the second option because it seems more solid and less patterned.

Sorry, I would choose a light, simple countertop with miniman veining.

I think the coffee brown would tie togethers the other colours of the room the best.

@chittychittybanebane: We have quite a bit of granite in our house (kitchen, bathrooms, a very large hearth), and we always just go through  the options on sale, as long as they fit the color scheme. Maybe it’s just me, but I never take a hard look at anyone’s granite and there are sooooo many options because the quarries always change, that I just don’t think it matters unless you are a perfectionist. I think you’re cabinets are awesome and I think they matter more, so you’re granite will take a backseat.

So what I am saying is, that if you want to save the $440, then go with the cheaper one. I like option #1 better, but is it so different that I would spend the extra money on it? And granite is always a great re-seller, so you can’t lose either way.

Just another way to look at it.

We have very similair tile and cabinet color in our kitchen and we have a similair granite countertop to #2.  I personally love it.  I was really worried that it would be too dark but once everything was in there I really liked it.  It gives it a slightly more modern feel.
