    Keeping cost in mind, I voted other. I think brown tableclothes, with an ivory runner would look really nice. And it would certainly be cheaper than tableclothes AND overlays. I think the pumpkins would pop nicely that way. Good luck!

    @kcr526:  A zoo and fall colors- two of my favorite things! Your wedding sounds like it’s going to be awesome!! Anyways, I agree with PP. I think that a brown table cloth with an ivory runner would be lovely. Is that possible?

    @kcr526:  I see. Well for cost purposes then I would probably vote white table cloth and brown runner.

    @kcr526:  I would stick with the white cloth as you have white chairs, then add a brown runner.

    See how the pmpkin gets lost on this orange runner?

    but is much more “present” on the brown

    What size are your tables? Maybe we can help with linens.

    @kcr526:  I think a white table cloth and brown runner would look nice. You should totally go with Waterford Event Rentals!! Alyse and Holly are so amazing. They have seriously been so accomodating. I recently switched my chair covers from white to black and Alyse was so sweet about it. She also went above and beyond and bought red chargers just for my wedding! I highly recommend using them!!

    @kcr526:

    For reference..I looked up Waterford, and for their linen rental prices, you can buy them for the same cost, then sell them later. For example:

    And these are at the largest sizes available. If you need slightly smaller ones, their even cheaper. Just something to think about, I think renting linens is a rip off.

    Runners, even cheaper than renting

    @kcr526:  Waterford Rental has good prices for the tablecloth rentals. I wouldn’t bother with buying them for 1 cent less, unless you really want to recover some of your money. The downside of buying is that you have to iron them before the event, and launder them following the event. The upside is that you can sell them for about half of what you paid for them.

    You could also buy used cloths from Craigslist if you want to save money and do the work involved.

    You can however save a few dollars by buying your own runners if you decide to go that route. Runners are much easier to iron and store( hanging over an ordinary hanger with a paper roll slit lenthwide and placed over the wire.)

    @julies1949:  Meh, I’m willing to do the extra work to avoid essentially throwing money away. I don’t think ironing a few table clothes and doing a couple loads of laundry is a big deal. She probably wouldn’t have much trouble, being that brown is a pretty neutral and commonly used linen color. I’d say she could easily sell them for 7 a piece.  I guess I don’t see the point in renting something for the same price you can buy them for, then you actually own something tangible. Different strokes for different folks I guess!
