So, after numerous calls and emails and *not quite throwing my hands up in dismay* I’ve travelled and met some photographers and have narrowed my pick. These are the top three. Their prices are similar. I like their pictures very well. One of them was a bit more engaging and had me, my Maid/Matron of Honor and my Bridesmaid or Best Man in stitches the whole time but she is more expensive. Anyhow, here they are in no particular order. Who would you go with and why?
http://www.carolynjonesphotography.com/ (great personality. A bit more expensive)
http://www.tresorphotography.com/ (Great personality too. A bit cheaper)
http://www.loveleephotography.com/#/special/splash/ (A bit shier but it could be that I was tired when I met her. Her package is the same except she comes with 10hrs as opposed to 8 which the others have. Another great thing, she’s shot African weddings too and the one she showed me was amazing)
I’m not beholden to anyone of them. They are willing to negotiate *a little* on price. Help bees 🙂

as long as it’s still in budget, the first is my favorite. her pictures are beautiful. personality is very important since you’ll be spending your ENTIRE wedding day with this person!

Carolyn seems to have the better quality pictures on her website. My next pick would be Love Lee, the experience of shooting African weddings is a huge deal (she also seems to have done a lot of Indian weddings which provide similar challenges).

I can’t see the third website at work, but i like the first one better than the second. If the 3rd one is good though and you get two additional hours, do you feel like you’d get additional getting ready or exiting shots that you want to be captured that wouldn’t be with 8 hours of coverage?

I’d go with the first one. The white balance and exposure/focus is a bit wonkey in quite a few of the Tresor photographer’s pics – and they only put the best ones up online. That’s a red flag to me. I like the style/composition of the first, and since you clicked best with them, that’s your best bet. You need a photog who isn’t shy – how are they going to herd the family together for group shots if they are meek? You have to be able to really get out there and get the shots you need!

OK, I was able to see some of the lovelee images on my phone and I think they are definitely better than the Tresor.
So it sounds like you are down to Carolyn and Love Lee. I think if you get more with LoveLee and you like her work as much as Carolyn or very close to as much, you may want to get the additional coverage to you can capture all the moments you want to capture. If you don’t need the extra 2 hours, then make the decision based on how much money you are comfortable spending and what your gut says.

I liked Carolyn’s the best and then Love Lee. Tresor didn’t seem too special at capturing details and personality but I’m also not a photographer.

I really liked Carolyn and Love Lee.

First and Third are good. The 2nd is cheaper because he does not know how to use his external flash. Light is EVERYTHING in wedding photography. The third one has some really cool detail shots.. the first seems better at capturing people. Id personally go with the first- Carolyn

Carolyn Jones all the way. In another league compared to the other photogs. Her photos show a better understanding of flash, low light, making skin look good in diffirent lighting situation (perhaps a bit of photoshop too), and the subjects look at ease when she’s photographing them. I’ve got a feeling you’ll be very happy with her.
My 2 pennies 🙂
