This is just a fun little post as I’m getting ready to go for our menu tasting and I need to pick 5 choices. We will end up serving 3 dishes family-style (plus a soup, and two sides)
Check out pictures of the choices, if that helps make your decision, otherwise please just vote for your top 3-5 choices!
I just want to get an idea of what our guests might prefer (I have a feeling my menu might be a little different and I want to make sure everyone is happy)
Please feel free to comment if you think we should ask our caterer to make a custom dish…and what you think it should be! (i am so NOT a foodie…can you tell?)

We also have a veggie quiche as an option, but we have only one guest (maybe) that is a vegetarian, so we’re fairly sure we won’t provide a veggie options (depending on what we like in the taste test).
We can order the lasagna meat-free as well.

Honestly, they all look and sound delicious I don’t think you could go wrong. Keep in mind though, if it’s family style, you might want to keep the food minimally messy. Maybe it’s just me but I always make a mess when I eat spaghetti and meatballs!

spaghetti is definitely too messy!
My fiance is a huge fan of chicken and all his votes went to the chicken dishes…yikes, we will have to find a compromise.

this post is making me hungry.

- Wedding: July 2010 - Amy's Manor
Chicken is something that the majority of people like so I would say at least 2 dishes should be types of chicken (that should also help to appease the FI). 🙂 I would also do 2 types of pasta, they are homey and familiar. I would choose pork for the last dish but that’s because I think it’s delicious and elegant at the same time. Good luck, they are all great options!

My brother and SIL had chicken marsala at their wedding and it was delish! We’re going to have lasagna but I voted for stuffed shells! We love beef stroganoff and I never considered having it for our wedding. Hmmm we may be changing our menu!

I would stick to the rule of one beef, one chicken, one veg/seafood. Honestly I am not vegetarian by any means but I tend to order vegetarian when I go to weddings or dine out because its the least difficult to mess up (ie meat is too dry, not cooked enough, etc). So while you may think there is only one true vegetarian there may be others hidden in your crowd 🙂
Looks delicious, I am sure your guest will be delighted at their options!

I am droooooling over the chicken piccata! I am not much of a foodie either, your menu options look great! I wish we could do a family style Italian meal … too bad we arent Italian, ha! I would suggest skipping lasagna is you are doing family style, cause it can get messy!

I would say that the main entree would also depend on what your sides are, for example if you choose mashed potatoes & green beans as two sides…it would be a little odd to serve Lasagna with a side of mashed potatoes (you could get away with the GBs though)
However, if you went with a dish like the chicken keiv or pot roast then mashed potatoes would be a perfect side.
But, of course someone who eats say the chicken marsala, obviously doesn’t have to eat a side, and the sides could be left to only those who feel their dish is best sutied with it. IMO I think it might look a little random though (having different genres of food, instead of going say, all American or all Italian) but I’m overly anal about things flowing together. Regardless, all your dishes sound yummy and I would be happy with any of those options 🙂

Since you’re not considering a veggie option, I’d go with:
– Lemon Chicken Picatta (yum!)
– Pork Tenderloin
– Baked Ziti
It gives people some options!! Good luck:)

I think shells are a nice option (kid friendly, vegetarian), chicken marsala, chicken piccatta (i’m having that at mine! yum!), then go with two other types, like I say pork and beef so you have a variety. Everyone will find something they like. Ultimately pick what tates the best! We tried chicken marsala at our place and it was cheap tasting, so we skipped it

I voted for lasagna but had to think hard between that and stuffed shells.
Only word of caution is, yikes if you spill on your gown. That is IF you even get a chance to eat!
