Hi bee and congratulations!

We are honeymooning in Hawaii- a week in Oahu and a week in Maui. Our experience with Oahu was this: 3 days at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel in Waikiki and the rest of the time at Turtle Bay Resort in the North Shore. our hotel grounds were beautiful, but Waikiki is NOT what we thought Hawaii would be like- it’s kind of like the LA or Las Vegas of Hawaii. Waikiki beach is gorgeous but super crowded, and in some parts the beach isn’t very wide. We had a great time there, just wasn’t what we expected. We much preferred Turtle Bay- the beach was amazing and much more of that Hawaiian feel. We loved both places in Oahu, but just wanted to make sure you knew what to expect. good luck!

Have you ever been to Waikiki? That’s the last place I would want to have a nice wedding. And we even got engaged on Diamond Head.

We are getting married on Oahu May 19, 2016. We are having 12 guest. The ceremony is on Makapu’u Beach and the reception is at the private house we are renting in Kailua. We did not use a travel agent, there was no point in us doing that. We are renting about 3 cars. Our family is going from May 14-21 and then we are going to the other islands for our honeymoon.

In all honesty, if you just stay in Waikiki, you are missing out on so much.
