I moved into a new home. We had all of our floors refinished. For the staircase I decided to have the steps stained and planned to paint the risers white.
I primed the risers using primer recommended by my contractor and then painted. When I took up the painter’s tape it tore huge chunks of paint off the risers. How do I fix this???

Sounds like you waited too long to take the tape off. Typically, if the paint is completely dry when you take the tape off, if will do just what happened to you and some of the dry paint will come off with it. It is better to take the tape off when it is not completely dry. As for what to do to fix it, I’m not sure if you would need to sand the area down where you have painted or not and then repaint, or if you can just touch up and then do another coat. Hoping someone else will have the solution for you…Good luck, and it sounds like it will be very pretty when you’re done!
