I love my dress, but I have serious dress regret over what looks like my dream dress. I ordered the Maggie Sottero Doreen and it’s a gorgeous dress. However, after reading these boards, I discovered my dream dress-the Casablanca 1975. It has just about everything I want–the beautiful lace, scalloped hem, fitted trumpet shape but not overtly fitted, and there’s just something about the train that makes my heart sing.
The thing is, I haven’t even tried on the Casablanca so I don’t even know how it would look on me. Given the shape of it, it’s probably exactly what I want. But I know that after just a day of shopping, dresses look way different on the body vs. on the hanger, so I don’t know how the Casablanca would be on me.
I don’t want to become a 2 dress bride, but I keep looking at the Casablanca and thinking that it’s the one that got away. I hope this isn’t symbolic of married life, LOL.
The first is Doreen, second is Casablanca.

I think it really depends on your body type. I think the Casablanca is harder to pull off… The first one is beautiful! Can you post a pic of you in the Doreen?
I do see the difference in the two laces, but I wouldn’t think it’s worth becoming a two dress bride over, unless you just have an extra $1500 laying around.

I love the first one. you chose right! Don’t even try on the other one! go try yours on again and you’ll fall in love all over again. i was 2nd guessing my dress but went and tried it on again and fell in love with it for a 2nd time. it’s normal to wonder but it’s harder to sell a dress (and get most of your money back) than you may think so my vote is stick with #1. good luck! 🙂

@bells219: Here are a couple. I actually went back and tried on the Doreen again and it’s just gorgeous. I just wish I didn’t have this feeling of “what if” about the Casablanca. I saw a thread about the dress, with girls posting their pics and it’s just such a gorgeous dress. I’ve even checked out a couple of used dress sites and found a few for sale. Must resist urge to buy second dress!

I actually prefer the Maggie and it does look great on you, but I know how you feel. I considered the Casablanca too, it is lovely. But I’ll tell you, those straps are *rough* and my skin was red within minutes!
I had one minute of dress regret and just made myself stop looking at the other contender until I fell in love with my dress again. And now I have NO regrets! Either way you will look amazing, and in the end you have to follow your heart but I suggest laying the other dress to rest (at least a while) and then seeing how you feel.

@cdncinnamongirl: Thanks! Looking at the pics again makes me go “ugh” inside. The sample I tried on was 6 sizes too big and I looked like crap that day! And the train is a gigantic pool of fabric that just sits there! My wedding is going to be in Miami in August and it’ll be hotter than Satan’s armpit, so what was I thinking, getting a chapel train?
I have read other girls commenting about the rough straps of the Casablanca–I probably would have gotten it made in a sweetheart neckline. Oh well. It’s too late for that now!
What dress did you end up picking?

I just OMG’d out loud for the Maggie dress. It’s stunning!
