Hey ya’ll! I just recently got engaged 6 Jun and have NO IDEA where to start! My wedding is probably going to be October/September 2014. The fiance and I are on the opposite sides of the country because we are both in the military.
Where do I start? and When is to early?!

@katie_pace: It’s never too early! Start now! #1 absolutely needs to be your date. I would pick ceremony and reception site for #2. Good luck and congrats! Welcome to the Bee!

I actually wouldn’t get set on a date first, if you fall in love with a venue or a photographer you might want to pick your date based on them.
Approximate budget and guest list is what I would do first, then start looking at venues and photographers. The way we did it was dream guest list and a budget we thought would work, and then we did a little research on the big expenses and reworked our budget and guest list where it needed to be before we booked anything.
If you don’t do those things first you could end up with your heart set on a venue that is too small or costs 90% of your budget.

I’m getting married this October, and we JUST started planning last week, so there’s a little perspective for you! 😛
We started with a guest list and a rough idea of when we wanted the wedding (this fall). Then, we only looked at one venue, decided we loved it, and snapped up one of the last dates available for this year. Next we will figure out catering…
If I were you, I would try to figure out guest list and venue next.

set a budget. work out a guest list. those were the two things we did first. (:
