I often do Pixar movies.  I feel like everyone loves those, regardless of age.  Maybe include a bag of popcorn or movie theater candy.

Last year I did a penguin hat (http://www.penguinhats.com/ ) and it was the hit of the party. It was stolen the max number of times and people are still talking about it, hah. There were a few people who looked like they would pee themselves laughing.

@mrspinesol:  It’s a sort of gift-giving game. Everyone brings a present, and is assigned a number (generally by pulling them out of a hat). Number one starts off by opening whatever present they want. Number 2 has the choice of stealing number 1’s gift or opening a new one. Number 3 goes next, and has the same choice but with more gifts. Generally there’s a limit on the number of times a gift can be stolen – 2 is how I’ve always played it – and once it reaches that limit it’s “dead” and can’t be taken anymore. It goes around until everyone’s had a chance, and then number 1 gets to choose to steal another gift or stand pat. If your gift is stolen, you get to choose to steal another gift (no stealbacks, sadly) or open a new one if there’s one left.

You really need people to get in the “stealing spirit” and make sure everyone’s mature enough to handle possibly getting something they don’t like to do it (the 6 year old that threw a tantrum, or the 13 year old that threatened to hurt someone who took her favorite gift, both come to mind), but it’s mad fun. I managed to get some gifts for relatives at a recent one.

A gift card for something like iTunes or McDonald’s or Starbucks (something many people would like), a mug w. some gourmet hot chocolates and/or tea, fancy chocolates, a boardgame or two, a decorative bowl or plate set (like Xmas themed), a basket with sweet stuff or something like Hickory Farms does… endless possibilities lol.

Looks like I’m too late but at our work party a girl did a framed photo of herself which she had signed. Everyone got a good laugh out of it! After all of the swapping was finished she told the person who had ended up with it to open the back and a Gift Card was stashed in there. I think for a family gathering it may work even better since people might actually appreciate a picture Hahahahaha

Practically, there are some great ideas above! I might get some for regular gifts! Haha
