Good morning ladies!
I am brand new to charting and temping but I’ve been trying to get the hand of things this cycle. This is my second cycle off BCP, first one TTC. According to an app on my phone, my period was due to come on Saturday, but it never did. I took a pregnancy test last night, (because I’m crazy) and it was BFN. My period still hasn’t come. Now I’m looking at my chart and wondering if it’s possible if I didn’ ovulate until cycle day 27 and that’s why my period hasn’t come? I’m so confused…please help!
Here’s my chart:

I am new to this, too, but I think you ovulated on CD 21. Your luteal phase is typically between 12-16 days, so I don’t think you are late yet. I would expect your period the earliest on CD 34, but maybe not even until CD 38. How long was your first cycle off of BCP?

I don’t think you ovulated until cd 27. It’s hard to interpret with that huge temp spike in there on cd 22 so if t was my chart I would just discard that temp.

What happened on CD 22? That is so high I would throw out that temp. It looks to me like you O’d CD 27 so your period isn’t late yet.
Do you track CM? I would start tracking that it helps your chart a lot.

Yeah I noticed that big temp spike too and couldn’t understand it…it was taken at the right time with the same amount of sleep and I wasn’t feeling ill so don’t think I had a fever…I remember even retaking that temp about an hour later and it was over 100…then a couple hours after that it was down to 97.5 or something.

Alex04242015: that looks better! I would also track CM, that will help you.

OK…now that I’m pretty sure I ovulated on Day 27…I’m a little worried. What does ovulating so late in my cycle mean in terms of chances of getting pregnant?

Whoa, that first chart looked crazy! Did you do anything weird the night before (drinking, lots sex or exercising)? Or did your AC go out or something? Lol, just trying to help you figure out what might affect your temps for the future.
Oing on CD27 is no big deal for TTC. As long as you O at some point, you can get KU. On the other hand, this particular cycle it looks like your BD timing wasn’t the best, but you did get O-2, which is a really good day for chances of conception.
Do you track CM at all? That would probably help you get solid CHs instead of dotted ones.

Alex04242015: chart looks much better! i have seen mixed things on later ovulation (CD 27 really isnt THAT late) but in general many people have had very healthy pregnancies with later O! good luck!

having a later O date isn’t a big deal as long as your LP is still in the good range (11-14 days preferably)

Alex04242015: It only matters that you ovulate and have a normal luteal phase length as far as getting pregnant. O’d on CD27 isn’t really a big deal. Of course having 40 day cycles is annoying for TTC because every cycle takes longer than “normal” so you might have more wait time. But if you’ve only been off BCP for 1 month your cycles might still be regulating and mighten shorten over time.
