I know exactly what you mean!  We’re having a similar cake, but the photo I used is from my baker.  Here’s the two we combined though when we went in:

That’s for the pearl dots, then here’s for the border:

It’s not really “pearl dots” for the border, but rather a particular cake decoratoring tip that creates this piping technique.  It’s a fairly standard tip that I know Wilton makes.

Oh, I forgot to mention that we’re doing buttercream and our baker said that the pearls you normally see on cakes like these are fondant rolled pearls.  But to do it in buttercream, simply use a tiny dot decorator tip.  It won’t be as perfectly round, but it looks so close you can’t tell.

Awhh, how sweet of your aunt to bake you a cake. My cousin was a pastry chef at the Ritz Carlton and she will be doing our cake as well. I want to do a plain white whatever amount of layers I need cake with a pearl dust over it and I want light pink garden roses and hydrangeas in between each layer. I love your design though so beautiful and classic.
