If you want to do it, then do it. Who cares what anyone else thinks? If it will be important and sentimental to you then that’s all that matters.

I’m a hugely sentimental person, so this idea appeals to me.  I think it’s really cute and if you plan on leaving it to her someday, then I think it will be worth it.  What style would you want to get?

Rubies are truly my favorite–so any reason you have for wanting a ruby is a good reason as far as I am concerned.

As a mom of 2 girls (13 and 9 yrs old) –congrats!  Daughters are so much fun!

I think that’s really sweet! Are you thinking it would be an eternity band? If you get a 3/4 eternity band your daughter would have the option to resize it if her fingers are a different size than yours or she wants to wear it on a different finger/hand.

Why is that a silly idea? That’s an awesome idea! I love the name Ruby.

snowflake8 :  it’s cute! My mom gave me a ruby ring for my 16th birthday (just because I like them it’s not my birthstone) and when I found out I was due with our first this July I started hoping for a girl so I can give it to HER on her 16th birthday, have it be her actual birthstone, and start a tradition.

snowflake8 :  I love the idea! I would check out gemvara.com because you can customize stone and metal types for any of their designs.

I have a sapphire/diamond band and a ruby/diamond band – each of my kids’ birthstones, so I think this is a cute idea. Are you looking for another band or a e-ring style with a ruby?
