I dont have a moissanite pear cut, but i do have an OEC. In my opinion they absolutely do not pass as diamonds. they really do have too many of their own unique qualities that diamonds just do not have, such as their chameleon behaviour regarding the light they are in, their incredible amount of lovely shiny rainbows when reflecting light, and their lusture. From memory, moissanite pears are also cut differently from a diamond.. so although the uneducated jewell lover may be fooled, a person with a bit of knowledge regarding diamonds will know you are trying to pull the wool over their eyes. all i can say is love it for what it is and dont hide it otherwise you will come unstuck. if you want the look of a diamond… get a diamond.

ps. i love my moissy and wouldnt have anything else

slw0546340:  Asha is basically a high end CZ, but I don’t own one and don’t have an idea of pricing.  Hopefully some other bees can help you out with that.  However, since it is a CZ, it will cloud over time and you’ll have to replace it.

slw0546340:  I agree with housebee:  in that you will have to take extra special care wih the asha as it can scratch easily. Why not order a moissy pear and see what you think of it before setting? The new moissy rough is pretty white and that pear thread was two years old. Good luck!

PS I have an OEC moissy and a RB diamond and I honestly think the moissy can and does pass as a diamond.

ETA I think an asha will cost ~$300+ depending on size of course.

slw0546340:  I wouldn’t get an Asha. I’m not a fan of the company that makes them and I think they are super over priced for what they are. If you’re going to get a CZ, I would suggest getting a WinkCZ because there is about a $300 price difference.

If you want to see videos of pear moissanite check out SamNSue’s instagram. They are Etsy sellers and post a lot of videos of their rings in action.

I think my moissy “looks like a diamond” if all you think of a diamond is the white/colorless shiny stone. It does reflect light differently and mine even has a bit of color which I love.

I really don’t think people pay that much attention to it though. But it does look beautiful and it doesn’t look cheap to me. FWIW I have a round cut.

Apparently you didn’t read the post about passing another stone off as a diamond.  Buy a stone you don’t need to be ashamed of wearing.  Passing something off as something else means you’re ashamed of your choice.

slw0546340:  can you order a moissy pear and take it with you to see with the beautiful setting you love? Many have had great luck and pricing from Moissaniterus on ebay. Good luck.  😉

ETA I have an unenhanced moissy with diamond sidestones and it looks great!
