I ordered my dress way back in January. I tried on the same size that I ended up buying and it seemed like it fit great. I’ve had my dress altered for length only but now it’s very ill fitting. I’m very unhappy with how it looks now, but my seamstress is very resistant to taking the dress in any feeling that it will be unflattering. I think it looks unflattering the way it is and I’m not sure what to do except buy another dress. Any suggestions?
The first pic is the dress when I tried it on in the store. The second pic is how it looks now.

What parts specifically do you find unflattering?

You could possibly have it taken in at the hips there for more of a fit and flare look… but i think it looks awesome either way

I particularly find the bunching up around the middle unflattering. I also feel like it looks too big and overall like it doesn’t fit properly. I haven’t lost any weight though, I’ve actually gained about 7lbs. The way the dress fits now I feel makes me look thick around the middle, where as before I felt like it was very slimming. I asked the seamstress about taking it in at the top but she said it would give me too much armpit fat. And she said she couldn’t fix the bunching in the middle.
Thanks for your input and suggestions.

I think it looks like it fits well around the bust – I definitely wouldn’t take it in there for fear of making it too tight. I do see the bunching at the middle that you’re worried about, have you tried wearing shape wear under your dress to smooth everything out?

You look beautiful 🙂 I can see where you’re coming from with wanting it taken in a bit at the hips and possibly very slightly at the waist. Maybe go to another seamstress for a second opinion?

I think it needs to be taken in at the hips. You looks stunning though!

tbh, I couldnt see any difference before and after… Would you consider putting a belt on instead if you are not happy with the middle section?

Looks like some shape wear would help. You could also have it taken in at the natural waist.
Wearing a crinoline under could give the skirt more volume, but if youve had it tailored already if might be too short For crinoline.
Take it to a different seamstress who can get the fit right.

Have you considered a different seamstress? I can’t believe they would have a hard time fixing the bunching. Though nice work. You gained weight yet look smaller in your dress. Love it! The dress looks great on you though, it would be a shame to get a new one.

The bust itself looks fine, however, I can see extra bunching right under the bust that’s not supposed to be there. Also i think there is some loose fabric at the hip area. It would look better if that part was taken in just a tad.

I think it needs to be taken in! Find a new seamstress if yours won’t do it!

Could it be the lighting? Does it feel loose?

I don’t think it needs to be taken in at the top but at the waist, and a bit tighter on the hips, go to a different seamstress, cause definitely the dress needs a little works and will look fabulous (you look gorgeous by the way!)

Definitely find a new seamstress… the mid section needs to be taken in.
