Hi Wedding Bees,
I need some advice.
I purchased my wedding dress back in April and when it arrived in August I went for the first fitting. It was perfect! Since August I have been under a lot of stress and when I’m stressed I EAT. Bad news! I went to try on my dress again on Tuesday and the back zipper and buttons are not even close to closing. My wedding day is February 11, and final alterations will need to be done in early January.
The dress shop said that they can have it altered and taken out a bit but not as much as I need. And to be honest, I’d rather lose the weight than make the dress bigger.
So my question is, do you have any advice for slimming down by about ten pounds? I’m in a kick boxing class and doing my best to eat healthier for the next two months! I know this is a silly question, but I hate doing any diets that leave you starving and I’m not about to start going to the gym or four hours a day while planning a wedding!
Any and all advice welcome. Thank you in advance!! 🙂
P.S. This was how it fit originally in August. Also I’m a brunette now, not that that matters.

First, you look fantastic in your dress! I stress eat as well and at my final(!) fitting, I barely fit into my dress and looked terrible. I got on the paleo bandwagon and was able to lose 5 of the 10 I wanted to lose. I’d add in a couple of HIIT runs a week to burn some extra calories (1 minute sprint, 1 minute jog, repeat, for 15 minutes) and focus on nutrition. IIFYM has worked well for me in the past as well and there are a ton of resources online to figure out how much you should eat of each macronutrient to reach your goals. Please don’t starve yourself!!

I’ve been very successful with tracking calories on MyFitnessPal and using a Fitbit to make sure I get at least 15k steps a day (whether just walking, or through workouts like Zumba, kickboxing, etc). Also drinking a ton of water and green tea.
I’ve lost nearly 40 pounds since July (with a LOT of cheat days…I won’t lie ;)) and am positive you could knock out 10 in the next couple months!

I dropped 12 lbs in the first month while using this free calorie counting app, then another 10 more slowly (by choice) over the next few months. Have kept it all off for almost 3 years now. I couldn’t recommend anything more highly!!

I’d recommend the South Beach diet (low carb, low fat). The first two weeks are very strict in what you can eat, but give really good results. If you continue to follow it after those two weeks, the weight will stay off and continue to go down. I’ve also done the military 3 day diet when in a pinch and it works, but you will be hungry. Drink lots of water to help avoid over-eating.

Since you are gaining weight to stress eating, try being more mindful when you eat. Think about the way the food tastes, the texture of it etc. try not to think about your stress or anything but the taste. Stop eating when you are satisfied. Try not to snack unless you are truly hungry, and pay attention to when you are snacking to alleviate the stress. Good luck and be kind to yourself!

My go tos to lose weight fast are to cut out the salt as much as possible, drink PLENTY of water, exercise, meal plan (which helps with stress eating), get rid of those pesky temptation foods in the house, and just work on your stress levels. Do what makes you less stressed 🙂 If that means a night of putting away the work and/or wedding planning to relieve stress, do it! 🙂 10 pounds is much tougher to shed than it is to gain so be dilligent 🙂 You can do it!

we have the same wedding date and im trying to lose 10-15 pounds before hand! My dress doesn’t zip up at the top OMG! I’m doing no carbs no sugar and I only drink water and tea. I lost 9 pounds in a month but the past 2 months I’ve stayed the same. Now I’m adding consistant excersize (Started a bootcamp and cardio at the gym) Just stay focus and you for sure can loose 10 pounds, especially if you haven’t been eatting too healthy and you start no carbs no sugars. Good luck darling! we can do this!!!lol

I swear by the intermittent fasting diet ( also called 5+2). You can buy an inexpensive book on it that tells you how to implement it. It means eating only 500 calories on two non consecutive days of the week. While those days are iifficult, the beautiful part of this diet is that you can eat whatever you like on the other 5 days. It seems counter intuitive to just part- time diet but it really works and it means you can eat out on weekends with no problems. Whatever way you go…good luck! Hope the stress that put those pounds there has passed.

I think I recognize the store you are in – The Bridal Gallery? If you are a Vancouver girl look into Orange Thoery Fitness and consider implementing those classes into your workout routine and ask them to help you organzie an eating plan. Their classes are crazy good and I burn about 700-900 calories a class in one hour! They have locations in a few places in Vancouver. (like Port Moody and North Vancouver and Surrey I believe)
Also drink LOTS of water!!:)

Do Insanity! You’ll def lose at least 10. Follow their meal guide!

21 Day Fix or Whole 30 meal plans (follow them religiously). Alternate cardio with weights.
