It should nto be hard at all to change the mold. That is why they do a mold first. It is easier to change that then metal. I would call him immediately and make sure he knows you want the changes.

No, it’s not too late to say something. That is the whole purpose of making a mold and mock-up– to tweak the current design as necessary before the ring is made.

It’s not hard to change the mold, my jeweler easily did for for me, but I would call them as soon as you can. Our jeweler had our mold melted down and the ring made within a matter of just a day or two once he knew we were happy.

Typically it is made with jewellers wax. I have never heard of one using gold for a mold. I have seen unpolished gold once it was cast. But that is different. I would definitely try to get a hold of them ASAP.

Honestly not to add to the stress but it sounds like he skipped the mold process and cast it. Ours were custom made by a friend and he showed them to us in wax before he cast them. Then we came in again once they were cast to make sure taht they were the right size and everything.

Do not stress out. I would just make sure you call them first thing in the mornign and ask them not to do anything else to your order that changes need to be made.

Mine was cast in wax before anything was done. He skipped a step and that’s not your fault. Remind him of what you want and DON’T FEEL GUILTY ABOUT THAT. You are paying for his services. Get what you want.

Even if i was cast in gold, he can recast it. Mine was done in wax, we made the changes and he cast in gold, it still needed changes. Out went the diamonds, change made with the CAD and recast in gold. They melt that stuff down as often as it takes.

I would be bummed if my jeweler did not listen. I also LOVE the gap in my rings and my jeweler triple asked, are you sure you don’t want a contour band?? No sir. I get to wear it today as we picked it up last night to see what I think.

@jnmwed: ITS NOT TOO LATE! It’s never too late….and take somone who IS confrontational with you if you’re scared…even though it shouldn’t even be a “confrontation” because he is a jeweler…his job is to make something you’ll love the way the want it…the whole point of the mold is to show you so that you’re able to change whatevr you want
