Take a deep breath. This isn’t the end of the world!  Do you have a contract with him? If so he needs to honor that contract.

Another option may be to have a friend perform the ceremony, but then get married legally at the courthouse either before or after your wedding.  People who get ordained online are not always able to perofrm legal ceremonies – you’ll have to check your state’s laws on that one.

I’d start contacting other officiants and see if anyone is available.  Since it’s so close to the date if they don’t have someone booked already, they may be willing to match the price of your old officiant.  Doesn’t hurt to tell them the situation and ask about matching his price.

I would ask the DJ company or band company– whoever is providing your entertainment— if any of their talent are licensed to perform marriages. You may be surprised to find out that your DJ can step in!

@tani139:  Are you in NYC? I have a friend who is an officiant. I don’t know if she’s free on Sunday, but it’s worth a shot. PM me if you’d like her email address!

I found our officiant on the internet, it was Rent-your-reverend.com or something and he was AMAZING, I would try it for your area, LOTS of people are licensed to do this, no worries!

I am terrified of my officiant doing this, he has really been the weak link in our wedding planning process.  But, I have a contract and have given him a 50% deposit so I hope that means something to him :/
