I like the Manor in Orange, NJ.  It has been around for a very long time and my mom even wanted to have her wedding there back in the 80’s.  It may be a little more than  what you are looking for but It would be worth it!  They know what they are doing.  And they will send you info in your email so you can decide if you could make it work before you take a tour. Good luck

New York Botanical Garden. It is everything you say you want – go for the Stone Mill. To get the price you want, though, it will not include open bar and you may need to do a day time wedding.

Honeybee_Jia:  I feel like I wrote this post! My SO and I got engaged in September and have yet to book a venue. Did you check out Rutgers Gardens in New Brunswick? We will probably end up having our ceremony and reception there. It’s the most affordable place I’ve found around the NYC area. The catering company they prefer will even decorate the pavillion for you 😀 I emailed the caterer for a quote and they are flexible. They’ll probably suggest you go with the stations menu. They don’t provide alcohol, but we visited Chimney Hill Inn (also affordable, they’re in Lambertville) and their alcohol source quoted $12/person. I’ll figure out what the name of the liquor place is… they said they also buy back the left over liquor!

I had a whole list of places in mind, until I saw your budget 🙁 I don’t mean this in a rude or mean way, but after looking at venues in that area, I just don’t know anywhere that would be $110pp with tax/tips/fees. Having an Open Bar, IMO, is going to be very very hard. Every place I looked at, with open bar was $200pp+ not including fees/taxes/tips.

The taxes and admin fees at my venue added 32% to each guest. Yowza. And that doesn’t include tip!

Good luck! NYC/tri-state is SO pricey!

I partially agree with knickergold, but I think you can find a place for less than $200pp. I’ve contacted a lot of places so far and have found that most of the “affordable” venues are around $130-$150pp, that’s including tax and grat. We still haven’t chosen a place, but here’s a little list… there are pros and cons for each venue; I could probably write you a thesis-length paper on why we haven’t chosen a place yet.

    Kolo Klub in Hoboken

    Gran Morsi in Tribeca

    Loews Jersey City Theater

Rutgers Gardens/Log cabin in New Brunswick NJ

Chimney Hill Estate in Lambertville NJ

Alger House in the west village

Honeybee_Jia:  We had a Sunday brunch wedding at TPC Jasna Polana in Princeton.  It is the former home of one of the Johnsons and was given to the TPC to preserve the property.  The food was beyond amazing and one of the main reasons we were married there – aside from the awesome photo ops!

I was looking into this place, I’m in PA. Bridgewater NJ is an hour and 15 mins from the city according to Mapquest. Bridgewater is a really beautiful area too. Our friends live there.😁
