So I’ve tried on about 20 dresses and I’ve narrowed it down to two dresses. I am so torn between the two! They are both gorgeous. I am 5ft 1, med built. I hope some of you can help. I am not able to take pictures of one of my fav but I found some stock photo online.
This one is gorgeous, but I’m not sure if it makes me look shorter than I already am. I also need to order this online because my local store is not able to lower the price, so this is also a down fall (Maggie Sottero):
This one is also gorgeous, but it is older in style. It is still beautiful and fit me very nicely. One other problem is I just found out a friend of mind had wore this exact dress two years ago in her wedding which I had attended!! What a coincidence…haha. This I can get at a local store off the rack for the same price as the other favorite (Pronovias).
Any comments would be muchly appreciated…help 🙂 I usually wear simple style clothing with lots of comfort; however, when it’s my wedding, I do want to get dressed up and look my best. I love the retro look of the Maggie Sottero, it is also a good length for me, but the Pronovias is elegant and simple. I really don’t know…

I love how romantic the first one is, but it would cut you at a really bad spot to make you look taller. The shape seems to slice right through the torso, and for shorter body types, I personally don’t think it’d look good. I LOVE the second one! I think the ruching would look great!

Wow! Thanks for the super quick response! You are right, it does cut off at the wrong spot and it does seem to make me look shorter. I think I am just in love with this dress, I am blinded with the beauty of it.

@victoriabride: I agree =) I sighed when I saw it. Anything chiffon and flowery gets me =) Which one do you feel more comfortable in?

@M.Ruder I think they are both very
, but different version of me. But maybe the second one is a bit more simpler like me. I am still paying $650 at our local retailer for this 2009 sample dress, so it
s still not cheap. I guess Pronovias is an expensive designer. The original off the rack price tag was $700 and Ive already got it at a better price.
I think the second one is also a bit better to get because I can get it here instead of ordering it online. I am just a bit sketched out with paying $650 for the dress online.
But……I am still so in love with the first one…maybe it
s because its the first one I`ve tried on with a veil.

I vote the Pronovias for SURE. I just dont care for the way the first one fits. My apologies!

I agree with you that the first one doesn’t fit quite right. DEFINITELY the Pronovias – I bet it is SO flattering on you!

I will confess I do not like the first dress at all- If that is a pic of you, it does cut off at the wrong place and is not flattering.
It is obvious you have a great figure, and I am sure the second dress would accentuate it better.
Having said that- if you are questioning which is the right dress, then you have not found the right one yet, so keep looking!

i LOVE the detail of the first dress but I also agree that it makes you look really short.
the second dress is gorgeous as well. I think that cut is alot more flattering! congrats with which ever you choose; they are both beautiful!!!

I am going to differ in opinion with the other bees on this one. I love how unique and fun the first dress is. It is gorgeous, and fits you well. I do agree that it does cut your torso in half, which may shorten you. Have you considered this one?
The second dress is lovely. I just feel that it is simpler of a design.

it’s hard to say because there’s no picture of you in the second dress but by looking at the style and your body (which i think is similar to mine. i can’t quite tell with your lower half), i think it will be much more flattering. it is tighter and how it gathers at the side is extremely flattering. i tried something similar but i didn’t want the side gathered modified a-line dress because i helped a friend pick out a dress in that style.
the first dress poofs out drastically at the hips and makes you bottom heavy and short. i also don’t like corsets. all three bridal shops i visited told me that they didn’t carry any dresses with corsets when i was describing my likes and dislikes. if your body is more shaped like a triangle and you need something that is more flattering, a-lines are great but you have probably find a more flattering a-line than the maggie. (again, i can’t tell whether or not you have a booty.)

Wow! I am so glad that I have posted this question here. Thanks so much for everyone’s help! Yes, those are indeed pictures of me in the first dress. I think I was just in love with the dress and didn’t look pass beyond that. I think the second dress does fit me much better at the right spot.
@malisa0607 I’ve posted a few more pics of me in different dress so you can see how my body type is kind of like.
(I had considered this dress, but I don’t like the shiny sheen material on me) http://www.flickr.com/photos/wongmandy/5652578604/in/photostream
@ssachf – that dress is beautiful! I wonder if it would cut off at the toso at the same area on me though. Maybe it’s better because it’s shorter.
@Iguanatan Maybe you are right, I will go back to the store again and try on the second dress . I love the romantic lace look of it. And it hugs my body at the right place. It does have some small beads all over the dress which is really beautiful.
By the way, does anyone know why the dates on these posts so random?

Which one fits who you are and what kind of wedding you are having? The first has more of a fun and young feel and the second one has a more serious elegant feel. Personally, the first one is too young/prom-y, and the second one is gorgeous! But you should try them both on and see which one feels more like you.

The ballgown one is my least favourite. I’d say the Pronovias or this one but I know you don’t the sheen of the fabric
