(Closed) HELP! Open Bar for 4 hrs. when reception is 5 hrs.?

I also think it is a good idea. Our venue requires that last call is one hour prior to the end of our reception. It is a safety and liability issue. The venue and/or you could get sued if one of the guests that has been drinking leaves the venue and gets into an accident. If any of your guests are going to complain, it will be the ones that shouldn’t be drinking anymore anyway.

My reception is also 5 hours, with a 4 hour open bar.  The way the venue described it to me is this:

After cocktail hour they will close the bar for 30 mins. People will already have a drink from cocktail hour and this is the time that the bridal party will be introduced. You wouldn’t want people standing in line at a bar at this point anyway.

The bar then opens again and is open all night until the last 30 mins of the reception. This gives guests a little bit of time to calm down before driving home/to the hotel/etc.

I would definitely ask your venue if they can do it this way!
