I sure wouldn’t. This is your special time, you shouldn’t invite someone who you know will ruin your day. Thatbeing said be sure to tell your Fiance about it and your concerns so he can understand and have your back if anyone says anything.

In terms of the wanting to please everyone, are you conflicted about this because you want to please your fiancé or you want to please his mother?

I would say invite her. It would be rude not to do so.  She is not a reflection of you or your fiance.  If your family has opinions on her behavior, that’s fine, but you should not let what others may think bother you.

How does your Fiance feel about it?

I’d probably not invite her.  Unless you think it’s likely that she’d turn down the invite?  That wold be perfect.

@mrsbordoni:  I would give a quiet heads up to your family about Future Mother-In-Law.  Something like ” I’m really looking forward to my shower.  I just heard back from Future Mother-In-Law and she will be coming.  She can be difficult at times but it would mean a lot to me if we all had a nice day, so I’m hoping everyone from our side of the family can bring some extra patience that day.” Then I would talk to Fiance or Future Sister-In-Law about running interference and pulling Future Mother-In-Law to the side if she gets too out of hand.
