Wasn’t sure what board to post this on….but I’m curious are your bridesmaid dresses going to be long or short and what material? I live in the DC area and am getting married 9/17. The weather is usually still warm like could be in the high 80’s or in the 60’s…..
That being said I was going to go with short black satin bridesmaid dresses but because of several reasons had to switch to long (and want black). However, I’m trying to decide if for a Sept wedding in my geographic area if long black and satin is more for a cooler weather wedding and would look weird.
So what length, material, and color are you putting your girls in? What area of the country do you live and what is the weather usually like around then?

The weather is unpredictable in April in CT. It can be balmy or freezing. I am putting the girls in this dress and giving them a pashmina if its cool. I think the material and short length is right for beginning of spring, the color is a vestatile color (meadow green) that is dark enough for cooler weather, but warm enough for warm weather vs. say a pastel)

I am getting married outside in Maine in September.
So far this is the bridesmaids dress I’m thinking of for my girls:
Maid/Matron of Honor in this one maybe:
Same color, don’t know why they look different.
Temps are usually in the 70s but can vary.

Is your wedding in late afternoon? If it is the length and color will be fine. I’m from B-more and the weather is unpredictable even the last few weeks! What about a sweater or a shawl?

@HisIrishPrincess: Well the ceremony is beginning at 1pm but the reception won’t start till 4pm for cocktail hour. Wish we lived in an area that the weather was more steady….it makes planning hard!
I do plan on buying the girls a shawl simply because the dress I chose is strapless and the church requires the shoulders to be covered.

I’m at the beginning of September so it often is still very warm where I live (hot beach weather in past years). My girls are wearing knee length dresses, as it is so warm. It will probably get cold in the pm, but we’ll be inside anyways, so it won’t matter much anyways.

My girls are in knee length, Thai silk dresses for our late afternoon ceremony. They should be ok, since Chicago is usually a dependable 75 degrees. I think that September in DC should be about the same, so you could go with short or long. I don’t remember it getting into the 60s in mid-September during my 4 years in DC for college. Just go with what you like and if you’re worried, maybe you can get the ladies shawls as Bridesmaid or Best Man gifts?
