- Wedding: August 2012
My wedding is not until August 2012, so I know I have a little time, but I am trying to select my bridesmaids. I worry that I will offend someone, even though everyone says that if they really care about you, they will not be offended.
So here’s where I’m at.
We’re having 5 on each side. My finace asked his brother to be best man, and asked my brother and his 3 college friends. I asked my college roommate to be my Maid/Matron of Honor, and my future sister-on-law to be a bridesmaid. I am stuck on who to ask to fill the 3 positions. I feel that I should ask one of my cousins. The one I’m thinking of asking lives locally, however, it’s always me trying to keep in touch with her. She hasn’t always gone out of her way to see me. The other cousin I would want to be a bridesmaid will be 15 yrs old at my wedding, and we will not be having any junior groomsmen.
I also have 4 closer friends who I would want to ask. I’ll call them A, B, C, and D.
“A” I’m definitely going to ask.
“B” I want to ask as well.
C and D are best friends, and I am slightly closer with C. I am afraid that if I ask C to be a bridesmaid, D will be upset. D has already offered to bake cookies for the reception and a cake for my wedding shower. She will also be her sister’s Maid/Matron of Honor a month before my wedding.
So I just want some outside opinions on which way I should go.
Should I ask my cousin and friends A and B?
Or should I just ask my friends A, B, and C, and have none of my girl cousins be a bridesmaid? Would it be offensive to ask D to do some of the baking even though she already offered and would not be a bridesmaid?
Help please – I’m so torn!
