I’m so excited me and my boyfriend are getting my engagement ring designed ๐ having a little trouble picking a center stone (emerald cut) carat size. I have a size 4 finger and would love to see some ladies with smaller fingers and emerald cuts! If you could post details that would be fab, I’m getting a rose gold pave band so if anyone else has something similiar I would so appreciate it
Also, have any of you bought cheap cz ring copies to get an idea of carat size on your finger? If so where do you recommend buying from.

katecod12 : I voted under 1 but after looking at ct to mm I want to change my vote, 1.5 set east to west

My center stone is .75 ct., total 1.5. I wish it was much larger. Emeralds face up smaller, and I wish it was at least 1, but ideally 1.5. Finger size 4.

Go for the biggest diamond you can afford without compromising on the other specs that are important to you beyond your ‘comfort’ zone ie are you happy with eye clean or do you want a vs1 clarity? Decide on this then get the biggest carat size you can with those specs. Pricescope forum users will help you find a nice stone for the best value.

The thing to remember about emerald cuts is that you need to stay in the VS or VVS range for clarity. Step cuts are very unforgiving with clarity due to the nature of the cut. The inclusions are much more visible than they would be in a round brilliant.

Thank you bees! Looking for VS1, G/H color for the 1.5 to 2 carat but if we go smaller would like to upgrade clarity and color a notch or two. Hoping to get an idea of what size looks too big on my child hands haha

Check out one of those online sizers. I was playing with one recently for an emerald cut on a size 4.75, looking for my personal size sweet spot.

katecod12 : Agree with PP about clarity and color. My center stone is VVS2 H, and I definitely notice that it is warmer than the side stones. My fiancé definitely did a good job getting the best quality for our budget, but if I could do it again I would choose a center stone that’s at least G.

My vote would be for either 1.5-2, but I like em big! Lol
I don’t have an emerald, but I do have a radiant – just under 3ct equivalent and I’m a 4.75. Rose gold setting, micro pave on the band – so kinda similar to what you’re looking for. Hope you don’t mind if a post a picture.

I have a bigger finger than you do- size 6.25, but you can use this for a size comparison. I have a 1.3 ct diamond, and I love my ring! I think with a size 4, anything bigger than a carat will be plenty big enough.

I recommend Berricle for CZ rings to test out different sizes. I actually just ordered some Emerald cut rings from them and they have quite a few different stone sizes in stock. The ones I ordered ranged from 1ct to 2.5ct. Make sure you use one of their promo codes though since it seems like there’s always a sale going on. I got mine for 30% off so my rings ended up being less than $30 each. I was really impressed by the quality and weight of the rings that I received.

I think a 1 or 1.5 would be great!

Here’s my ring and specs to give you some perspective. It’s a 1.01 carat diamond on a 3.75 finger. For us, a 1.5 ct was not in the budget, but I tried one on and it looked great on my hand. It was sizeable but not obnoxious. I am happy with the finger coverage my 1 ct gives me. You can’t lose with either a 1 or 1.5 ct.
