@uconnblonde:  We attended a “Fall Ball” for my husbands job in Monroe, CT at The Waterview. It was beautiful there and the steak was close to the best I’ve ever had. I’m not sure what their prices are like but it was certainly a nice place.

The Waterview is gorgeous but I’m pretty sure it’s at least $120 a head. If you’re willing to do a Friday, Sunday or day wedding you may have better luck finding a waterview venue in your price range. I scouted multiple venues on the Sound and couldn’t find anything under $100 for a Saturday evening. Good luck!

Have you tried Light House Point in New Haven,  down the street from Anthonys Also Branford House in Groton.   Candlelight Farm in New Milford.  you bring in your own caterer.

@uconnblonde:  Venues will work with you on price, depending on the time of year and what night of the week you choose, so if your heart is set on a waterfront venue, you might be able to swing it if you’re willing to do a fri night in a colder month like March, April, October, etc. for a lot cheaper than a Sat night in June. Not sure how much it is, but maybe try the Candlewood Inn in Brookfield? Also, the Waterview quoted me $100pp for a Saturday night in April… so you could try a Fri or Sat in March or October, if you’re willing to do that.

Have you looked at Mystic Seaport yet? We had our ceremony right on the water and then reception was inside. They are very flexible in regards to price as long as you hit a certain food & beverage minimum (and if you want the ceremony outside you need to rent the lawn for an additional fee). We had a our wedding on a Friday so as to keep that minimum at a reasonable level. On top of that, their sales/wedding coordinators are amazing and on top of everything. The food is really wonderful (all of my guests said it was the best wedding food ever).

@PaisleyMedic: We just booked our caterer (it was my #1 priority as I LOVE food haha) We’re going with Grand Gourmet in New Haven, the food was to die for, the presentation/creativity was amazing, and they gave us an early booking discount.

How about you?

@OnTheGoBride:  I have most of the larger stuff. We have our caterer, Matthew’s Catering, who we’ve worked with many times before and are AMAZING! We have the DJ, hair stylist, photographer, and day-of-coordinator already all booked!

Are you able to provide a tent at Branford House?  I’m looking for something fairly affordable on the water, too, with own liquor/catering brought in, but I really want a white tent (and love that there is also an indoor area, in case it gets hot and people want an escape).  None of the photos I’ve seen show an outdoor reception there, though, so if you have any info, please let me know!

Thank you 🙂

@stargirl5:  Yes you can have a tent. Their rental info PDF (here) states for a tent 1600 sq ft it’s $2,000 in addition to the house rental fee. I’ve looked at MANY photographers blogs with weddings there, and I’ve actually seen plenty with tented receptions. Here are a few
