Hello all. I have recently picked my dress. It is a victoria kay style 1036
this is me in the dress
1. i cant decide weather to grow my hair so i can have an up do (i have a year to the wedding) or keep it short which my FI loves and also i do admit i look better with short hair. But i dont want the same style i have everyday on my wedding day
2. i want it more poofy at I the bottom, something like this.
Do you think this will work. Im seeing the seamstress on saturday to see what she can do i just wanted ideas.
Many thanks guys 🙂

It should be really easy to make your dress poofy by adding a crinoline.

I’m a firm believer in looking and feeling like yourself on your wedding day. If you know you look better with short hair, keep it short. You can always find a fantastic hair accessory to spice it up a little.

First – the dress is very vintage. I like it (I’m a fan of straps on gowns – as that is the direction I went as well)! I think that if you take it to a seamstress, they can add some sort of crinoline/tulle to the underskirt so you get a little more volume.
With regard to your hair – there are plenty of ways to style short hair! Have you thought about if you want to wear a veil? If no veil, you could always get a beautiful fascinator or headband to really bling everything out. Just adding a little something extra and a few curls here and there will take your hair in a whole different direction!

Add a mermaid/trumpet crinoline for the poof.
If you have a year to your wedding day, why don’t you grow it out, try out hair styles and see how you feel? If you don’t find anything you like, just cut it off and go back to the way you and your FI love it!
Welcome to the boards 🙂

I’d try both a mermaid cinoline and a hoop skirt with your dress. Both will give it the volume you’re looking for but both have different comfort pros/cons. As far as your hair, I’d definitely keep it the way you prefer (short) and leave it to your stylist to find a way to give you an updo that you love with the hair you have!

Keep your short hair and rock a beautiful birdcage veil 🙂 Love your dress!
