It should be really easy to make your dress poofy by adding a crinoline.

I’m a firm believer in looking and feeling like yourself on your wedding day.  If you know you look better with short hair, keep it short.  You can always find a fantastic hair accessory to spice it up a little.

First – the dress is very vintage. I like it (I’m a fan of straps on gowns – as that is the direction I went as well)! I think that if you take it to a seamstress, they can add some sort of crinoline/tulle to the underskirt so you get a little more volume.

With regard to your hair – there are plenty of ways to style short hair! Have you thought about if you want to wear a veil? If no veil, you could always get a beautiful fascinator or headband to really bling everything out. Just adding a little something extra and a few curls here and there will take your hair in a whole different direction!

Add a mermaid/trumpet crinoline for the poof.

If you have a year to your wedding day, why don’t you grow it out, try out hair styles and see how you feel?  If you don’t find anything you like, just cut it off and go back to the way you and your Fiance love it!

I’d try both a mermaid cinoline and a hoop skirt with your dress.  Both will give it the volume you’re looking for but both have different comfort pros/cons.  As far as your hair, I’d definitely keep it the way you prefer (short) and leave it to your stylist to find a way to give you an updo that you love with the hair you have!
