I could really use some help please! I’m thinking about adding a sash to my dress, and I want something that is insanely bling as my dress is very plain. I’ve been having a look on Etsy and Kirsten Kuehn but I was worried that they might look more beaded than sparkly, if that makes sense.
I’ve added pics of my dress, and below it is a photo from another bee of how I would like the sash to look (really hope cluelessbride 18 doesn’t mind me using her photo).
Ok, so my questions, firstly do you think a bling sash would look nice with my dress or would it be better without a sash?
Secondly, do you think either the Laura or the Two Strand Austine from KK would look nice (pics below), or should I keep looking? Suggestions very much appreciated if you feel I should keep looking.
Lastly, does anyone have a sash which they would recommend? I’m in the UK so it would have to be from somwhere which would ship internationally.
Thanks very much and sorry for the odd picture sizes, I’m not sure how to resize!

I like it without! The waistline of the dress is so pretty. Beautiful gown!

@missweatherlove thanks very much for your reply and thank you! I did love my dress but I’ve been feeling really down about it recently so though adding a sash might help me feel enthusiastic about it again
@mrsrangrang it’s Suzanne Neville Fontaines, I’ve spent ages searching for photos to see if it’s been done before but haven’t found any, thanks very much for the suggestion though.
I should probably have added that I’ve had a nightmare with my dress recently, the seamstress who was just supposed to put the buttons in so the train could be bustled and strengthen the corset loops got my dress mixed up with someone elses and have made it two dress sizes smaller!!!! It fitted perfectly before and I am now on a desperate mission to lose weight in the next 5 months so that I can fit back into it again.
I’ve been feeling really down about it as I am pretty slim anyway and didn’t want to lose any weight, but there’s no time for the designer to make another one and as this is my dream dress I really really want to wear it. I had been thinking that a sash might make me feel excited about it again, I know that sounds a bit weird!

@TheHaesterReturns: first, I voted no sash. The waistline ruching is so pretty, you don’t want to take away from it. I would add some bling by wearing a necklace and earrings and possibly a headband.
Second, what that seamstress did is not acceptable! She can’t completely mess up your dress because she “mixed it up with another” and expect you to kill yourself to lose weight in such a short amount of time. That’s insane!! I would seriously make her pay you for the dress or fix it and I would get all my money back. Ok, end rant…that just really upset me to hear that!

I usually prefer sashes, but I think your dress looks great without one!

I will almost always vote for yes on a blingy sash! I said yes to the Laura sash, I think it is closest to the look you are going for

@jwilk241 thanks very much for replying, I have a headband and some lovely earrings which Fiance bought me, so I’ll be wearing those. It’s a really long story but because of the way the dress is made even the designer herself said that it can’t be fixed, and I can’t get hold of another dress the same in the time we have until our wedding. So basically if I want to wear this dress, I have to lose weight. Fiance and I are pursuing legal action though and I am so, so furious about it.
@WannaBeeMrsB thank you so much!
@Lily_of_the_valley thank you! I do love bling, I think I prefer the Laura one too, I think the shape would be nicer with my dress

IMo the dress is not designed for a sash because of the detail at the waistline.

@TheHaesterReturns: Ok I am clearly the minority here bc I think you can do a sash with your dress! Even thou it’s beautiful without…..I think you have options for a sash if you want one! I don’t think the ones you have listed would look good with it thou.
If I had to pick one or the other it would be the Laura.
I think it would look best with a sash that had both bling and flowers. Something kinda like this!

I think it would look really nice with either of those sashes!

@weddingbound I love the sash you posted, and I think it’s a great idea to have flowers and bling, I hadn’t thought of that, thank you so much! I’m going to have another look on Etsy
Thanks very much for all the advice and comments, very much appreciated
