Hi Bees,
This is my very first post (although I’ve been lurking for a looooong time!). My amazing fiancé and just got engaged this past weekend, and I am so excited! He proposed with a simple placeholder, as he wanted it to be a surprise and also for me to be able to help design the ring. I am very happy about this as I’m really picky!
The ring I’ve been dreaming about is a round sapphire (around 7mm) with a channel set diamond band, and filigree on the sides. The only problem I’m having is deciding on the width of the band. Should it be 2mm, 2.5mm, 3mm? I’m a size 5.25 and the distance between my palm and knuckle is quite short. I’m worried that once I add a wedding band, a 3mm engagement band will feel too chunky (I also really like the look of the center stone going over the wedding band). Can you show me your engagement rings and wedding bands together? And please let me know the width of each, and your ring size. I’m a 5.25!

My engagement ring band is around 2.5 and my wedding band is a tad smaller. I think there is still plenty of room on my finger. Issue with thicker bands is that they can sometimes over power a center stone. My diamond is a 1.26 on a size 5.5ish finger.

Mine is the opposite. I have a really thin ER band and a thick wedding band. I think everything comes down to personal preference and the center stone. I don’t think my band overpowers the center stone at all. I think the wedding band is around 2.5-3mm if that helps you

How exciting! My engagement ring tapers to about 1.7mm near the center stone and my channel set wedding band is 3mm wide. Rings are size 5!

raw4 : Pretty hard to overpower that center stone.
