Hi bees, finally I have my wedding dress almost ready to go. I already thought how to style my hair. I also want to wear a flower in my hair…however, I have no idea what kind of veil to wear with this dress?? First of all, I am not considering a birdcage since my fiancee hates it …..I am petite so I will use a fingertip veil for sure. My problem is the edge or style of the veil. I am wearing a the bolero jacket that goes with the dress if you request it so a mantilla veil will be too much goin on (plus it will need to match with the lace of the gown but I am not spending money ordering the matching lace from Maggie Sottero). In addition, I would not want to wear a puffy veil just very flat instead.
What kind of veil would you guys suggest in my case? I have no idea! please, post some pics if you guys have a nice veil that goes with my dress.
Here are the pics of my dress (first pic), and the second pic is the way I want to style my hair. By the way…. how to place my veil with this hairstyle??
I still have time to pick a veil since my wedding will be in April!!

Honestly, if you have your hair like that and the dress has so much detailing…and with the flower in your hair….I would skip the veil :p

Go without a veil; it’s beautiful on its own!

I would do a fingertip veil with a plain edge for the ceremony and then take it off for the reception. You do have a lot of detail going on, so I would skip lace or crystals.

I would either do a flower or a veil, not both. And I would do a really simple veil – with an invisible edge or something similar.

Your dress is absolutely gorgeous!!!! LOVE it!!

ok well, a very simple veil sounds good to me I like the idea….however, what do you think should I wear? a drop veil?or maybe one tier veil? I had no idea that picking the perfect veil would be hard, lol!
I think I would use the veil for the ceremony, take it off for the reception and wear a flower instead…what do you think?
thanks for your ideas and imput

I would do a simple, single-tier fingertip veil with no edging, stones, lace or embroidery. I wouldn’t wear the veil over your face. If you are using a hair stylist, he/she should know how to structure your style so that a veil will be well anchored.

I would skip the veil and stick with a nice flower, or another hair ornament.

Thanks for your ideas I appreciate them very much! Here is the thing, Mr fiancee would love me to wear a veil (hasn’t said anything but I know) so that is why I insist with the veil thing. My family and I would not care about wearing a veil (I too would be happy if I just wore a birdcage veil or not veil at all) but my fiancee’s family are very traditional and so is he sooooooooooo….. To me it is fine to wear or not to wear a veil.
I am not wearing the flowers in the dress as you can see them on the picture, but I was thinking about wearing a single flower in my hair?? veil+rose=?? oh boy!
Any more ideas will be appreciated. So far, I think I will wear a very plain no edge (or pencil edge) one tier fingertip veil. My hairstyle?? would be down and simple I guess, lol
thanks again to you all!

Can you give us more info, e.g. your face shape, your approximate size, your accessories? I need more info to picture what will suit you.
Let me see how I can analysis it:
Your dress is mainly lace, with some shiny beads… a romantic gown. You want to wear a bolero jacket, a flower on your head and a veil (plus you are petit).
updo/ semi-updo hairstyle (it will be too much if your hair is down… looks like so much is going on around your head)
if you want a flower of your hair, keep it simple and small… if it has too much details, attention will be drawn to your head not your dress
for the veil, you want a fingertip veil, I think a simple cut edge (simple and elegant) or a mantilla (with the lace matching with your lace dress) both are good choices. You can have an idea from the pictures below

Thank you big monchhichi for your imput ! well, here I go:
I have a long oval shaped face, 5,3 tall, street size 4 Maggie Sottero gown is 6. I am planning o wear a one strand pearl necklace and pearl earings. Two pearls and rhinestones bracelets as well.
Now, I had doubts about wearing my hair half up half down or semi-updo (half updo?) since everybody has seen me having my hair like that all the time, lol so I wanted something different like all my hair down which is not usual for me to wear it that way.
In addition, I am planning to wear the bolero jacket for the ceremony and maybe an hour more for the reception, and take it off for the rest of the reception so I wanted to show off my wavy curly long hair, lol.
I am 38 first time bride to be (glup!) so I thought that wearing a updo will make me look a bit older than I am (is not that I am “oooooolder” hahaha it is just I would not want to add more “formaily”. I actually thought wearing my hair like you can see on these pics but probably is kinda crazy because of the bolero, detailing of the dress, etc…. oh my gosh!! what to do??

it is just I would not want to add more “formaily”… I meant “formality” sorry...
