You should add a poll!  But I think that you should propose on the first or maybe second day of the trip πŸ™‚  GOOD LUCK!

@JamesinVA: You have such an awesome plan already! How romantic! I personally think that your second option, proposing on the first or second day, would be great. It would prolong the suspense and curiosity about what is going on just long enough, and then you can both enjoy Rome as a newly engaged couple on Valentine’s Day. But, honestly, you can’t go wrong with this one! I hope it is wonderful and everything you both dreamed it would be :o)

WOW! What an amazing surprise! I cannot imagine that happening to ME!!! A surprise trip… AND A PROPOSAL? Number 2, definitely! Plus that means you’ll have another day to celebrate your love (on top of V-day and your anniversary)  in the future.

I agree, definitely the first/second day there.  It seems as if you had the whole trip planned to propose to her, so the first option is out, and on Valentine’s Day, she might be expecting it.

I voted for on the first or second day so that you can enjoy more of your trip as an engaged couple!  Also, it’s more surprising just in case she’s expecting it on Valentine’s Day.  Good luck! πŸ™‚

#2! Your proposal should be its “own” holiday!

Any sound great! I voted for before just so you can spend the entire trip celebrating

As a girl whose Fiance proposed to her in Rome may I just say, nice choice πŸ™‚ It’s going to be beautiful!

Also, I totally agree with the first or second day there option. My Fiance proposed on our second evening there and it made the rest of the trip so much more special.

Congrats and have an awesome time πŸ™‚

My friend did something similar – he surprised her with the trip, told her to get packing, and then proposed about 10 minutes later while she was frantically packing her bags.  He said he did it because she had JUST enough time to get excited about the trip, and then to think “is he going to propose in PARIS?!”  And then their entire trip was magical, because it was their “proposal trip.”

I’d make her wait until Valentine’s Day and really surprise her. She might be expecting it if you do it right away, but by waiting it out, she’ll run the gamut of emotions and the wait will be worth it. I’d like to be a fly on that wall! πŸ˜‰

I wouldn’t give up an opportunity to propose in Rome of all places, so definitely propose once you get there. Don’t make her wait. Go with #2! Enjoy your trip it sounds amazing.
