Money question – my fiance and I would LOVE a tented reception, but I’m having a hard time getting a ballpark estimate of how much rentals would actually cost (tent, tables, linens, flatware, the works). I know that there is a lot of variation from wedding to wedding, but has anyone out there done this and willing to share what this cost you and where your wedding was? I know it’s not cheap and we are willing to prioritize it, I’m just feeling a little lost….
Something simple and chic like this is my dream 🙂

Reach out to various rental companies and ask for a quote. Ask your caterer for a quote, if they do rentals as well.

@abbie017: Thanks. I’ve reached out to a few rentals companies, but am feeling like I’m caught in a catch-22. Before I choose a venue, I want to know what the actual estimated cost would come to. (As in, will this venue plus rentals still be within my budget) but a lot of the rental places want a venue before they can give an estimate! Is there some really simple part of this equation that I am missing?? 🙂

I was looking to do a tent… For the tent alone, it was 10K, which include hiring the stafto for tent put up and take down.

I think its strange they are asking you what your venue is. From my experience a large tent with no draping is around $2,000 (that will fit 150-200 ppl & dance floor). Then the tables and chairs are going to add at least $1-2000 (on the higher end if you want chivari). As far as staffing is concerned, that is something I have no idea about. Also tablecloths are going to be around $15-20 per table. I would say you’re going to have to budget $10,000 for all decor/tent/tables/etc. You might want to look for venues that have ‘built’ in tents or have tents on site so that its more all-inclusive.
EDIT: I am also doing pricing in Ohio, and I see you’re in San Fran so I would guess your costs will be more than the estimates I had.
