So I just found out today that my cousin bought the same wedding dress as I did which is the Vera vw351011. Of course we didn’t know what dress we each got before hand and she lives in a different state than I. We only found out because we happened to text each other about our wedding planning and ended up on the dress subject. I don’t know what to do! She got the ivory and I bought the soft white. The only same guests we’d have would be my mom’s sideof the family. I’m worried they’ll remember and also, when my fiancé and I go to her wedding…he’ll see my dress on someone else! My questions are:
1. Do you think anyone will remember 6 months later…especially my fiancé?
2. David’s Bridal is letting me do an exchange.. Should I try and find another dress even though my heart was set on this one? I was thinking about waiting for the 2012’s to come out and try again.
Im so bummed!

@mae437: im so sorry to hear that!! :/ I think it depends how attached or in love you are with the gown. Maybe this is a 2nd chance?! If they are willing to let you exchange, I’d take up the offer and see their other options, worse case you dont find anything you still have your beauty!
Best of LucK!

Wow how crazy! I dont think anyone will but if you love the dress keep it! Who’s to say you will find a better one?

@mae437: Keep your dress. No one will remember, and the dresses on each of you will look different/unique and likely unrecognizable. 🙂

Keep your dress! I have seen two brides in the same dress before and only realized it when the original bride pointed it out to me. Those weddings were only a few weeks from eachother. I wouldn’t give it a second thought.

@mae437: It will look different on both of you anyways.

1.I don’t think people will remember and especially men do not remember details like that. Even to me, wedding dress are starting to look all the same to me lol
2.Thats nice you have have a chance to exchange. If you really love the dress, I would just keep it. If it was me, bc i’m so particular I might want to see if there are any other dresses out there. You may suprise yourself and find something else you love better.

Wear the dress you love and don’t settle for something you don’t like. No one will remember what the other girl’s dress looked like at all. To the average person, they all look pretty much the same.

Thanks everyone! That’s exactly what I was thinking, that no one will remember. But my Maid/Matron of Honor thinks people will remember so it got me thinking. I guess I’ll try the 2012’s when they get in (because I’ve already tried everything I was sort of interested in the store now) and if nothing works then I’ll just stick w/ the dress. I just hate having to go dress shopping again.

I doubt anyone will care, a few might remember. but if you think about it hundreds of other brides have your same dress, and it’s not something to get upset about. And there’s no doubt that you will be the only one in your FI’s eyes, even if he’s seen the dress before, it will be different.

Try the others to see if there are any that catch your eye, but really – you’re going to look different, likely accessorise different, and hubby won’t remember a dress on someone else. Promise. 🙂

No one else will remember. That said, it would bug the heck out of me, and I would feel compelled to find a new dress. But I’m just crazy like that.

A few of te more detail oriented women in your families might notice, but you will have totally different guest lists.

i say keep it.. however.. dont question your fiance too much on her dress.. but when he sees her ask.. “hmm what do you think about that dress on her?”… if he says anything super negative then id get a new one.. if he says.. it would be better on a different body type etc.. then keep it.. you can always sell it online!!!
if your gut is saying exchange then follow your gut..
