For cushion cut rings in particular, I know that Dorfman on Newbury St. will be able to get you whatever you want.  They are probably the most high end jeweler in Boston though, so it will be expensive, but amazing quality and service.  They may not have exactly what you want in the store, but if you specify what you are looking for, and are serious about purchasing, I know that they actually put together a ring with the exact stone and design that you want, and you can then decide if you want to purchase it.

Hope this helps!

My Fiance bought my cushion cut ring at Tiffanys in Copley. They brought in rings from other Tiffany stores to show him (when he called to set up an appointment he specifically said he was looking for cushion cut).

My fiance got my cushion cut ring from a jeweler in NY, but I did check out rings at Tiffany and Shreve, as well as Lux, Bond and Green.  LBG had great (and more laid-back) service, and gorgeous rings at lower prices than Tiffany and Shreve.  I strongly suggest looking around to find the ring and jeweler that best fits you.  🙂

I just started working with a jeweler at Lux, Bond and Green in Wellesley – I agree with Grass. After going to Long’s Jewelers (very good reputation but we were NOT happy with the service there), Tiffany, and a bunch of no-name stores all over the place, we ended up at LBG and have been super happy so far with the service, selection etc. Plus we got a referral from a previous customer before starting the (long) process of designing our own ring and I have seriously never heard such a happy customer. The guy said he had a client whose brother was a partial owner of a diamond mine in South Africa, and couldn’t match the price LBG got him on a stone.

I was really impressed with the service at Lux Bond and Green as well – I used to work next door and have bought a few other small things there. They have great selection and great staff.  I ended up getting my ring at Brian Gavin Diamonds, which is in TX but they work with people all over the world and have an amazing inventory of stones and custom settings: briangavindiamonds.com

I liked them so much I’m dreaming up more custom projects to do with them, and having my mom’s e ring reset with them as a surprise. They are the best!!!

I was stressed about dealing through the mail, but they insure everything for the full amount and have never had a mishap. they won’t quit until you’re satisfied. check out their work on their blog and on pricescope.com.

Go to our jeweler Kevin in the Diamond exchange building. I received the most gorgeous 1.5 carat cushion cut diamond from my fiance, who designed it with Kevin’s help. It was also appraised for $6K more than he paid for it. Kevin makes the rings for Barmakian, Lux etc. so you don’t get the huge upcharge that you do at the larger firms.

His info is at http://www.buygiadiamonds.com/. Best of luck

My cushion cut was from DeScenza, they have one in downtown Boston as well as Framingham. There is a third location but I can’t remember where.
