corvo:  I’m with the other bees on moissanite! If she is against buying something expensive and its ok that it’s not an actual diamond I think Moissanite is the way to go! I have a moissanite ring and a diamond ring and I have honestly been wearing my moissanite more often since it’s so incredibly beautiful! You can find wonder Jewelers on etsy that will make custom rings for uou using moissanite too.

I, for example, had my ring made to match my engagement ring so that I could switch between the two without anyone asking where my real engagement ring is. For a 1 ct equivalent size moissanite in a white gold setting with a small diamond halo I paid about 600 and the jeweler was amazing to work with online.

Heres a picture with my diamond ring next to my moissanite (the rinh with the thinner band is the moissanite)

good luck!

Here is a site that doesn’t sell anything, but gives a good comparison on different diamond alternatives.

corvo:  http://www.moissaniteco.com does custom engraving. My original e-ring was an Asha (which is a coated CZ), and I recently upgraded my center stone to a Forever Brilliant moissanite from MoissaniteCo. They were great to work with.

Amora Gem!  You’re looking at probably around $700 for a 1 ct.  They have a few around that size available on the betterthandiamond site right now if you want to look.  I bought a loose stone and had it put into a different setting.

corvo:  some of the bees here are very passionate when if comes to moissanite, and you can’t really blame them since it’s an incredible stone.

I’m the same as you when it comes to doing research before making a purchase. Pricescope.com has a bunch of threads on moissanite and has a lot of helpful information.

In my personal experience with moissanite I’ve had an unenhanced moissanite and forever brilliant. I sent the unenhanced stone back and replaced with the FB because I perfer a whiter stone and I could see a huge difference.

You can buy moissanite as a loose stone and have it set or you can buy it in a ring already made.

Some shops on etsy are highly recommend when it comes to moissanite jewelry (Rosandos Box, Kristen Coffin)

the guy I went though ( MichaelHoganDesigns ) spent 2 months making my ring and we shipped it 3 different times back and forward with no extra cost to me until it was perfect in my eyes.

I hope you find all the information you’re lookjnh for and you have one very lucky girl!
