yes you can get a fake cashiers check.. i’ve actually seen it happen before, the money clears, then next thing you know(up to two months later) they check isn’t real and your responsible for all the money and fee’s.. not her!! try using paypal or escrow.com.. it’s much safer

This is what i have done before. Tell the buyer that you will deposit the check and as soon as it clears your bank you will send the dress.

I heard that sometimes it takes a week for the bank to catch the fraudulent cashiers check. I sold my dress and she kept offering me a check or money order. I said cash only, so she came and brought cash.

Can you guys post the names or usernames or e-mails or whatever of the people who are trying to scam you on Oncewed.com? I would like to avoid having to deal with those people!!
Also, as a matter of caution you should NEVER accept cashier’s check as payment.

@brasty I just saw this thread. This is word-for-word the same email the scammer sent me a few weeks ago. I posted a warning on the classifieds here. I sent her one back just to mess with her telling her to send me a check for $10k over the amount of the dress just to know that I can have faith in her as a good person lol. Never heard from her again! Mine was under [email protected]

I know this thread is very, very old but it’s funny I should see that now as I just dealt with a scammer whose e-mails were exactly like starbright333’s and brasty2010’s. Right down to the very last period. The only difference is they were calling themselves Marcia Druten with an e-mail address of [email protected] and [email protected]. Like Brasty, she said she wanted it sent to Cleveland Ohio, and then she changed her mind and wanted everything sent to Mansfield, TX.

Wow, I just had the exact same thing happen to me – same name – Marcia Druten – same exact email word for word. We exchanged several emails and she told me she was in Ohio. She “accidentally” sent me a check for her wedding planner rather than my dress ($1900), and asked me to cash it then send her the difference. The address on the envelope was from Wisconsin and the check was from some bank in Texas and signed by “Annabella.”
I told her I was uncomfortable with this, that I was sending it back and we could just start over. Of course I never heard from her again!
I never would have cashed that check to begin with – obviously suspicious – but next time I do business online I will try to just deal locally or make sure I check the name/email out before doing so. I just happened to notice I had two emails for her, one with a dash and one with an underscore, so decided to Google her again. Beware!

I have been trying to sell my wedding dress for a long time and have alot of scammers contact me. It’s really sad that they target women selling their wedding gowns! Alot of women have been suckered by them. They always want to pay with cashiers checks! Let me just be clear ladies…IF YOU DON’T WANT TO BE SCAMMED ALWAYS USE PAYPAL AND NEVER EVER TAKE CASHIERS CHECKS. Paypal is the only way to protect both of you! So if you say you want to use paypal and they decline, you know something’s fishy and it’s not legit!!!

Dont accept the cashier check, use paypal. If the buyer refuse just find another that want to buy that dress.
Better ve carefull than sorry.

Really?!! Yeah, if you look up the ISP for “Marcia Druten” it comes up in the Netherlands, and according to 419eater.com, there’s like 7 known scammers they’re tracking there. 🙁 What was her wedding planner’s name? In my case her name was “Nancy Silver” and she was from Bellevue, WA. I informed the mod on OnceWed about Miss Marcia and she said she’s list it as a scammer. It’s so sad.

I get a ton of these emails because we buy and sell on Craigslist a lot. i ignore them. they are all worded the same. if im selling something i sell it local for cash only.

She never told me her wedding planner’s name…I didn’t want to use PayPal either since my credit card number was stolen right after I used it the last time. Any online transactions make me nervous now! Anyhow I am glad I found your post along with the others. 🙂
