I posted last week about my dress… http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/not-loving-my-dress-any-way-to-fix-it
I don’t totally love it. I really liked it when I tried it on and bought it off the rack, on the spot. It’s pretty, but when i look at pictures of myself in it I feel like I look a little frumpy or something. Something isn’t quite right. It hasn’t been altered yet but it mostly fits me so I don’t know if that’s it. Bees gave me good advice/reassurance and I decided just to be content with it. For reference, that dress was $600
Today I went to a dress shop looking for a veil and I saw a dress on a mannequin that I just loved. They encouraged me to try it on. At first I thought it was a little too snug in the hips, but they seemed to think Spanx would fix that or I could let out the lining a smidge. (I’m also still hoping to lose another 5#). It’s Casablanca, style twenty-thirty. It’s $1200. They said they’d take 10% off for it being a sample; but not more since it’s a pretty new samle. It probably wouldn’t need any alterations… maybe bringing the straps up a smidge, maybe letting the lining out. I wouldn’t change the length, just wear 1″ heels. I felt a lot sexier in this dress, though a little self conscious about my hips.
I’d be fine with selling both dresses after. Do you think it’s worth switching????? My dress is at home in Oregon, so I can’t try it on until the wedding.
#1 my dress:
#2 Casablanca dress
I feel like the dress is pulling across my hips in this pic:

I hate to tell you this… but I LOVE dress #2 on you. It is so flattering – and your hips look absolutely fine! I love the shape and style on you compared to #1, but that’s not to say that the first dress is terrible, because it’s still very pretty. Good luck with whatever you decide!
You look really happy in the second dress. I would find a way to get that one!

I’m sorry too: but I like #2 much better.
#1 is nice, but it’s girlie and while it looks fine on you, it doesn’t DO anything for you either.
#2 is very flattering: you look taller, thinner; and more of a mature woman.

although i know you have bought your dress im sorry to tell you that i also prefer dress #2 – i didnt notice any hip issues and i really love the back on it
btw, its a sample – go for more than the 10% they are offering or take the 10% and ask them to throw in a veil

I hate to join in but Dress 2 trumps dress 1….dress 2 seems so much for elegant and sexy….it is definately memorable in a great way

You look very happy in the #2nd dress and it’s beautiful.
The 1st dress is a bit plain and simple. It’s your wedding day so I would say go for the 2nd one.

can you share more pics of dress #1?

I love dress #2 as well. It looks amazing on your figure.

@daniellealys – I will try to find some more of dress #1. My laptop got a virus and is currently inoperable. 🙁 I’m using FI’s computer and it doesn’t have my dress photos (obviously). The dress #2 photos were on my phone 🙂

I like dress two also. I say try to talk them down and play a little hard ball with them since it is a sample. 10% off is really not that much. It doesn’t look like it needs much alteration at all, which is good. Also look for that dress on preowned or some of the other sites. The only thing about that is some preowned dresses may have alterations already done to them so the dresses may not fit as well as the one you tried on even if they are the same model.

i love the second dress! so flattering and it suits you perfectly!

Ugh.. I hate to say it, but I’d definitely go for #2. It’s much more memorable than #1. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with the hip area in #2, unless you’re uncomfortable or can’t move comfortable. It’s beautiful on you.

oh. well, I dont want to vote unless I can see more photos of #1. we cannot see much of #1 but we have lots of nice pics of #2…no wonder everyone is voting for #2. They are both beautiful dresses

Have to go with the crowd and say dress number 2 definately!
