Honestly, if a church wedding is important to your fiance then I think you need to change your date/venue.  Remember that the ceremony is the most important part!  Also, I know your families said they’d be ok with a wedding on Good Friday, but would your friends be?  A lot of people fast on that day and others just wouldn’t drink (I’d feel weird drinking a lot on Good Friday myself).  So while I’m sure they’d go, I don’t think it’d be as much fun.

@lindaainguyen:  If it were me and getting married in a church is important to my Fiance, I’d want to make sure we were married in a church. Although it sounds like Winfrey point is just as important to you. So, it’s not an easy decision. Have you checked with your current venue to see if they have had any other dates open up? Or are you willing to be more flexible with the wedding date and pick another weekend at Winfrey point?

Ya I would really not be a fan of a wedding on Good Friday. It’s an important holiday for us… more important than christmas in the christian calendar! For us it would be like scheduling a wedding on christmas…

I honestly would feel bad about even attending a wedding on Good Friday. It just isn’t a day for celebration. My only concern would be that if Good Friday is March 29, March 2 would still be within Lent and Catholic churches won’t marry people during Lent, so that still wouldn’t solve your problem. (I’m assuming you’re Catholic but if not, you might be OK with the second venue.)

Also any and every minister, unless they are retired will already be booked doing hte good friday service at their church…. and I’m not sure how they would feel about performing a marraige on good friday…
